I thought we were in the mix for him, but according to his 24/7 profile Ohio State and Stanford are the favorites as of now. Did something or were we never in it?

Would be great to have, but there's too many other elite DB's next year to lose sleep over peppers

Dude had about 10 schools as his "favorite". Has no LA ties and lives in Jersey.

Not happening
Was just a name to make a top 30 he had

It was a pipe dream, for sure. Although, if Bower flips after his visit to us this weekend, that does open up an avenue into New Jersey, albeit, a very tiny one.

I have no idea why he dropped us. Rivals has a video interview of him by Mike Farrell. This was back in the Spring, I think.
Farrell asks him what schools are at the top of his list. Peppers replies that he likes SEC schools, mostly LSU and Florida. A few seconds later, Farrell presses him for more information, bu asking which is his dream school. Peppers responds, "LSU".
Note this isn't some rumor of some comments - it is a video interview with direct questions (with Peppers giving direct answers).
But within a couple of months (mid-Summer), LSU was nowhere in sight when he was mentioning his new list of favorites (and this was before the Mathieu incident, or our underwhelming final record). Did our staff do something that offended him??? Did we not show him enough attention??? Did some other incident occur that caused him to dump us??? I don't know.

He tweeted that he wished he could visit LSU like the other day

I think there was some confusion of whether or not he had an offer, and he was disappointed that we didn't offer him. He has an offer, so I guess whoever handles his recruitment is clueless.

Yeah, looks like someone was not letting him get info at his High School...Classic recruiting . Let him visit, and go from there, but we won't be hurting at the DB position..Only question is how good can it be? and who's afraid of competition...

Damn, misread one word, and then the entire premise of my post is invalid. My mistake...

Pretty sure he was talking about the DB haul when asked how good can it be, not Peppers. Everybody knows Peppers is a top 5 CB. Calm down brah.

I had read somewhere(no linky..) that academics were a big factor for him. Not saying that puts us in the outside looking in, but if that is what It comes down to, I can see why Stanford and OSU would be listed as the favorites.

I'm a senior at Ridgewood high school in New Jersey, and we played them this year. I played center so didn't go against him directly, but he's a beast.
From my first person experience, I feel like he could be a better runningback. This year, especially in the championship game, he got beat some on defense. The guy he went up against is playing d2 (I think) and he had at least 150 yards and 2 touchdowns, a lot of it against Peppers. Offensively, Peppers couldn't be stopped (besides a fumble) and was dominant averaging over ten yards a carry. Obviously I'm not a scout or anything, and I think he wants to play corner anyway.
He's got some major ego issues, but I guess everyone would. He's tough to deal with, and don't think he is liked well by his peers. I'm not sure he really has his heart in football to be honest. Evidenced by his rap career, and that the best education is a top priority. I could be wrong though, these are based on things I hear from people who could be and probably are biased.
His best seasons were at Don Bosco, before he transferred. I've heard mixed reports about why he transferred, but I do know that Don Bosco kids never liked him. At Don Bosco though, he was unstoppable. That team is dominant without him, and with him, no one could really compete.
Regardless, beast of an athlete and would add him in a second to our class.
