Honestly, after watching the video, he's so damn fast off the snap that it looks like he's either cheating/beating the snap count or the offensive line is letting him by.
The dude is FAST off the snap. Very fast. I would be very interested to see if he could maintain that speed while he added size.

Don't know about middle linebacker. This guy reminds of some of the past Auburn D-linemen. 3 star guys who didn't have the perfect measurables but were quick and caused all kinds of problems.
Another option is if the staff is thinking of moving Brockers, Logan, and maybe Edwards inside and Copeland could play DE. Hate to use the Freeney/Mathis comparison but this guy fits that mold.
Any way you look at it, he's quick and has good leverage. Definitely a take to me.

Not knocking the kid, but a lot of those plays were made due to very poor offensive lines. Seem like they forget to block him most of the time. The kid has a lot of speed though.
Do you guys really think they are forgetting to block probably the best defender on that team? He is just way too quick for them. When the line does get to him, he does a great job of getting around them, or knowing when to break off the block and which way to go.
A great athlete and the combo of him and Jackson might soften the blow Marsh dealt us

NOTE: In my estimation after watching this man's highlights and upon realizing his size, I think Miles and staff maybe thinking of Copeland in terms of converting him into an inside linebacker - he has the speed and the toughness, and, assuming he can keep lean muscle, should make a nice transition with Chavis's expertise.
Interesting thought. But I think they are recruiting him as a DT.

Ego's parents actually told rivals that what made LSU look so good was early playing time at DE. Because they were making some position changes like mentioned above, and also Pep was possibly moving inside

Hey OBUDan, if we're recruiting him as a DT then I guess that's what we're doing. In my opinion, though, he looks like he could possibly be converted into a MLB with size that compares to the likes of a Brandon Spikes. It would obviously remain to be seen, or course, of whether or not any recruit with this size that we bring in could read the quarterback as well as the former Gator MLB.
DT is fine for me, though. It was just a for instance upon first seeing his highlight video and knowing of our lack of depth at the MLB position. Copeland looks to be bigger and quicker than Kevin Minter, although Minter is schooled at the position and may have better all-around speed. They both look pretty mean, though.
Either way, with John Chavis as our defensive coordinator, we can expect to at least receive above-average MLB performance once KS is done bruising.

His film is amazing. He's close to Dorsey's size when he came in. Maybe a little lighter, but about the same height.

I like Copeland a lot ... and apparently Miles did as well

I think Worle will lock this kid up

Yeah I talked with Brandon yesterday and he said he initially set it up by getting Miles to watch the video and meet the kid. From here he said that he would remain recruiting J.C. to LSU.
My guess is that if he gets an offer, he jumps on board.

Is he going to make the grades?

I think Brandon is the most underrated recruit in this class..he looks like a mean animal

the test is coming up for him on Feb. 6, but he told me he needs a GOOD amount of points before he is on his way (he said nine, but I have yet to look up if that is really the case). He made it sound like he would knock it out and be on his way, though.

It looks like they are forgetting to block him because he is so quick off the ball. If you notice just about every time it happens there is some lineman chasing him after whiffing on the block as he ran by or laying on the ground after trying to cut him.

I did not notice, but how fortunate is LSU? Jump on him Les, this kid looks very good.

Sounds like he's ours if we offer.
Completely disagree he has stated that he committed to the university not a coach and that he is vol no matter what

The whole defense looked very good, how did they do in their playoffs?

Maybe he has said that in the past, but it seems like LSU has a VERY good chance from what I've read.
