You really don't need more.
What you need is somebody to step up this year and give you a potential starter at end opposite Farrell in 2020 (assuming Logan goes pro after this year).
As to numbers, you are anything but short on defensive linemen.
You only lose one off the 2018 roster and you're adding three (actually four). You signed Ika, Evans and Fonua, who will likely add 15-20 pounds and play DE at 280 this year.
Your numbers on the defensive line are what they should be.
1. Lawrence
2. Fehoko
3. Logan
4. Shelvin
5. Farrell
6. Fonua
7. Justin Thomas
8. Cotton
9. Jenkins
10. Livingston
11. Ika
12. Evans
13. Mike Williams
That's more than four strings of defensive linemen, when in your nickel package you're pulling the nose guard - so you really only use 2 1/2 down linemen on defense.
This idea that we're desperate for numbers on the defensive line is patent BS. We need some of the younger guys already on the roster to become legitimate players, sure, but there isn't a program in college football who isn't faced with that - INCLUDING both Clemson AND Alabama.
Now, we'll want to take a big class full of blue-chip kids in 2020, and making sure we close the deal on Roy, Guillory, CamRonJackson and Jalen Lee, plus Branard Wright, is absolutely paramount.
But this "need more linemen" meme everybody is screaming isn't based in reality.

When I saw how he performed at the UA game as well as throughout the season, I was like hell naw!
yeah one of the plays they showed on ESPN2 as a "highlight" of his was him giving up on a play, standing stationary 10 yards away and waiting for the QB to run back his way, then just fell on top of him for the tackle because he's gigantic compared to his competition. He seems to be one of thosse guys that is rated highly because of his measurables and "potential" but may never live up to that potential because he's fat and too lazy to get in shape.

That baw don’t sound too bright. I mean, I kinda felt sorry for him while he was reading. His entire family is relying on him to drive Chargers and go pro. I guess Saban figures he can keep him in school. Anyway, frick him and his mentally challenged family. May they all soon contract Gonorrhea.

How do you see DE depth shaking out this year and next?

These threads do nothing except allow future recruits and their parents to come read and see how "welcome" they will be here.

The classic "WE DIDN'T WANT HIM NO HOW!" line. We need D-linemen. He's the top rated D-lineman in our state. We whiffed on most of our back-up plans. No way getting around it, this is a bad look and doesn't bode well from a pure football standpoint.
I'm looking at this as a positive. We clearly put out the effort in Amite, so that can no longer be used as an excuse by the fat barber. Pretty sure people and kids in that area saw a greater effort and LSU presence than they have in the past, which should help in the long run with future players.
And I hate to beat this horse to death, but if you are an elite defensive lineman, there is no way in hell that you lose to Metairie Park Country Day.

I 100% agree with this

I hope he doesn't take a redshirt next year. I want to see Cush make him quit.

That's fine and all but we still need DL and we barely got them

Herein lies the problem. This is why you do not strike out on lineman every recruiting class which Orgeron has done consistently. None of the young guys are stepping up. They're not exactly getting pushed backwards by an amazing line. Fehoko and Lawrence are very inconsistent players.
Dline has a high bust % with high attrition rates. You have to bring in several highly touted guys every class and they have not done this for quite awhile. Every now and again LSU will land a highly touted guy but overall, they miss the mark more than anything and resort to lower players on their board. Not a recipe for success.

Had he came here, he would’ve been Chris Davenport 2.0. At Bama, he’ll turn in to Quinnen Williams 2.0.
