This is a direct qoute from Al Gore, the biggest idiot in the history of the universe. He also said his life was the basis for the film "Love Story".

He said he helped invent the internet and the media is liberal, why would they hurt their own candidate?

Heres what really happened or is it?
It is often falsely stated that Al Gore took credit for inventing the Internet. He did claim credit for the "initiative in creating the Internet", which is an unfortunate choice of words and arguably an overstatement, but Gore did play a key role in funding the early commercial Internet

So basically he did claim he had a part in inventing the internet.

Who cares, we had the greatest recruiting class in the history of college football, if we had only signed Shep it would have been a top 10 class. Shep=domination.

The above defense of Al Gore was posted by STOWNS.

Well S, you're completely wrong. Al Gore did in fact claim credit for taking the initiative in creating the internet.

Hear it in his words here: LINK

Furthermore, the Internet evolved from ARPANET which was created in the 50's. This evolved primarily among educational institutions until the late 80's when some private gateways were created. Later the modern web browser evolved form Mosaic which was developed by the National Center for Supercomputing at UofI Champagne Urbana.

Al Gore never did anything that can be remotely credited w/ creation of the Internet. He's a typical political liar. Furthermore, he could not even describe to you how the Internet works or what packet switching technology is. Futher he could not even tell you what TCP/IP stands for. Al Gore is one of the biggest con men in history, a pathetic individual.

And for you to defend him, does not say much for you.

Actually...you are wrong, Luginbill already addressed Janzen Jackson:

quote:

“We did not consider him as signed with LSU,” ESPNU recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill said of Jackson and whether the defensive back’s de-commit would cost LSU its No. 1 ranking.

Except that all of this stuff that politicians say is recorded and we can go back and look at it in context. Gore actually said, "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Which is of course blatantly false and misleading. Whatever steps he took, as a member of a legislative body, was never an "I" situation. He should have used "we." But that's minor.

If you consider ARPANET the beginning of the internet, that was in 1969 when Al Gore was 21, graduating from Harvard and enlisting in the U.S. Army. He had nothing to do with it.

As the "internet" (as it would become known later) began to expand, the two primary "user groups" were research scientists, mainly at universities, and the U.S. Department of Defense. There were major advances and expansions during the period prior to Gore even being elected to the House of Representatives.

He was a sponsor (not "The" sponsor, by the way) of a 1989 piece of legislation (as a member of the U.S. Senate)called the National High-Performance Computer Technology Act that facilitated a massive expansion of the already existing "Internet". The act provided funding (and research) to allow more government agencies and more universities to connect to the already existing "internet." If that can be fairly and accurately described as Al Gore, acting alone, taking "the initiative in creating the internet", then he was wronged by the media. If he was as full of crap as a Christmas turkey, then he was properly lambasted and lampooned.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Gore never claimed that.

Read here how this false story came to be because of a couple of shoddy reporters at Time

On creating/inventing the internet, try Googling "Vinton Cerf" sometime. Cerf is often called the "father of the internet" - also Robert Kahn. They developed TCP/IP. See what they have to say about Gore and how important he was in the development of the internet. If you don't like Gore, you might want to avoid doing this, however, because you're not going to like it.

For example, from a letter written by Cerf & Kahn about Gore...

"But as the two people who designed the basic architecture and the core protocols that make the Internet work, we would like to acknowledge VP Gore's contributions as a Congressman, Senator and as Vice President. No other elected official, to our knowledge, has made a greater contribution over a longer period of time"

"We don't think, as some people have argued, that Gore intended to claim he "invented" the Internet. Moreover, there is no question in our minds that while serving as Senator, Gore's initiatives had a significant and beneficial effect on the still-evolving Internet. The fact of the matter is that Gore was talking about and promoting the Internet long before most people were listening"

"He was the first elected official to grasp the potential of computer communications to have a broader impact than just improving the conduct of science and scholarship."

"Working in a bi-partisan manner with officials in Ronald Reagan and George Bush's administrations, Gore secured the passage of the High Performance Computing and Communications Act in 1991. This "Gore Act" supported the National Research and Education Network (NREN) initiative that became one of the major vehicles for the spread of the Internet beyond the field of computer science."

"No one in public life has been more intellectually engaged in helping to create the climate for a thriving Internet than the Vice President. Gore has been a clear champion of this effort, both in the councils of government and with the public at large."

"The Vice President deserves credit for his early recognition of the value of high speed computing and communication and for his long-term and consistent articulation of the potential value of the Internet to American citizens and industry and, indeed, to the rest of the world."

Cerf, here (old Wash Post article)"I think it is very fair to say that the Internet would not be where it is in the United States without the strong support given to it and related research areas by the vice president in his current role and in his earlier role as senator."

From an article by Cerf in Esquire magazine:

"Al was attuned to the power of networking much more than any of his elective colleagues. His initiatives led directly to the commercialization of the Internet. So he really does deserve credit."

Despite evidence to the contrary, the delusions about Gore continue...

Sorry about being part of hijacking this thread, but...

BOOM! He is right! Luginbill also said alot of bamas players won't qualify, so they take that into consideration.

Guilbleaux said in an interview that contrary to popular opinion the Rivals home office is not based in Gumpville, but Brentwood, Tennessee. (which is worse?)
