its actually a easy transition

I could see it being easier to go from DL to OL than OL to DL. A DL could go from pushing and tackling to just pushing.

Man we are loading up on DL.

Why again are we not going after Ivan Robinson?

Why is it that everyone forgets about the class last year?

We're not. Last year's class was last year. You can't skip a year on any position in the SEC and still be on top. You have to get quality guys each year.

Jordan Allen is not going to be a DT - ever! We need defensive tackles.

Don't alot of these kids play both ways in high school? Dont' the recruiting services more or less project where they think these kids will play? Isn't it the coaches responsibility to evaluate players to determine where they will be most effective? And doesn't this evaluation continue even after the kids are on campus and the coaches get a longer look at them? Downs was expected to play center because he was small for DT but once he got to LSU it was more obvious that he should stay at DT. He could have gone either way depending on the coaches evaluations. Barksdale was given the chance to play DT, but it became obvious that he was better suited to OL. The coaches were honest with Porter that they see his skills as more suited to the OL at this time, but if he comes to camp and it looks like he'd be a better DT, they could move him. It's better that they are honest with the recruits, but they all understand that the coaches will continue to evalutate them and will give them every opportunity to show what they can do.

Yes, and many times you don't have to move them much from DL to OL because they played both positions in HS. Calvin Barnett (recruited by LSU and verbal to Okie State I think) has ESPN video clips playing both sides of the ball and so does Cassius Marsh the DT being recruited by LSU. I haven't looked at Porter's clips yet on ESPN. I still think Marsh if he signs with LSU (or anyone else for that matter) might end up at OG instead of DT, but Porter is already being pretty much mentioned as a definite OL at LSU.

Blackmon DT, Allen, Bates, & Maclin will be DEs, maybe J.R. Ferguson since LSU is now in his top 2 or 3, etc. BTW, LSU doesn't need a ton of DL after signing what...6 last year. Plus they redshirted Chancy A. and Edwards the year before and are only RS FR. Davenport coming up, Logan coming up, Brockers coming up, JUCO Hicks will be redshirted, Montgomery coming up, Downs playing as TR FR, Clement a RS FR, etc. LSU isn't exactly poor in the DT/DE department. Add in the ones who are verbals already.

But Porter will move to OL...I think Marsh will if he is signed...Fordham is already just about a C lock from TE position...Hardrick from JUCO an OL. I would like one more OL with the big attrition lately...either D. Robinson or Stone.
