Not knocking the kid at all, but would certainly be the weak link on the team if relied upon

This should go on the rant, but from what I've heard, he's a rotational player at best, not a starter

Wade yesterday called him a "big-time shot blocker."

My guess is he'll give you 3 and 2 off the bench with a block a game, probably in 10 minutes a game worth of playing time.

But you still need a quality big to rotate in - particularly in games where you can't get out and run.

With a year off to get bigger/stronger I bet Wade gets him to provide some quality minutes.
You need some big bodies even if it's to provide fouls or rest to the starters.

None of the posters have a clue about him. They are just like the rest of us. Wade has sang his praises so I will listen to him. Also it has been reported multiple times that he has added 25 lbs in his redshirt year.

I'm sure it was a bit of coach speak, but I distinctly recall Wade mentioning that when Cooper played the role of Gafford in practice this past season that he couldn't be stopped.

I think he will give the team a little more than expected as well. Some rim protection and a couple buckets and rebounds per game would be nice.

I think we are all overlooking what Emmitt brings to the game. He was recruited out of HS as a PF and Wade has even mentioned he plays more like a 6'9". I think his exact words were he plays 4 or 5 inches taller than he is. I think he is like 6'6" with shoes, but he has long arms and can get off the floor. Barkley was 6'4" maybe 6'5" with shoes and he played PF at a high level. Plus Emmitt has a full year of college under his belt, he may give us what we will miss from KBW.

He is a really good rebounder...especially for his size.

Has the want to.

He should be even better this coming season. Hopefully between him and Cooper they can replace what we lost with KBW being gone. Emmitt played with his back to the basket a few times and did ok. Looked a little unsure of what to do, but he did make a few plays. If he can get better on the low post with his back to the basket that will give us a little more inside scoring. Need more high percentage shots.

I have seen Cooper in a March practice as well as follow what Wade has said about him.

He does not seem to be as tall as KBW, but does appear to have good athleticism. He should provide some shot blocking, but not to the extent of KBW, of course. He appears to have better offensive moves in the paint than KBW. Hopefully, he will continue to add to his strength during the summer to aid his defense and rebounding against the larger SEC post players. He did not take any outside shots during the practice I visited (not sure if that will be part of his game). Previous coach before LSU had commented on his intelligence and learning ability.

I'm really excited about the upcoming season. Even though we lost Naz and Tre, we will have more players with experience in Wade's system. We will have a significant amount of talent again!!

And this is very beneficial.

Especially with Watford and Manning. I think of Manning as a 5 star wing coming out of HS, that's how talented he is. And like any 5 star wing coming out of HS we will only have him 1 or 2 years. Do you know when LSU's practices will be open to the public before the season starts? I haven't been to one in a long time. The last practice I went to Dale was riding Steffond Johnson hard to get rebounds. LOL Long time ago.

I don't know if any practices will be open to the public. I was able to go to a preseason team practice with other Tiger tip off club members last year.

I was invited to a March practice by my TAF rep. That was the first one that I have attended. Wade had each player come over to greet and thank me after the practice was completed. A really great experience!!

I'd imagine it was. It'd be great to go to some of their practices before season starts. Guess I will just have to keep my ears open, maybe they will invite the public to some.

I think he’s a legit 6’9” or damn close if not.

Not as tall KBW.

No. I hate to talk bad about him bc he’s a good kid and a starter. I’ve seen enough of Cooper to know.

If he plays more than 5-10 minutes per game we are in big trouble. Not an SEC level player at this point.

He is a solid shot blocker bc he’s very long but that’s about it.

Steffond Johnson

Man, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I'd heard that LSU recruited Johnson instead of Karl Malone because he was a higher prospect. Hopefully, LSU recruited both and that's just the story they gave for missing on Malone.

I also recall that Tex Winter spent extra time with Johnson trying to develop him but he never really panned out as a consistent player. He'd show flashes every once in a while.
