JJ will not start a game this year for the Tigers unless injuries to the other two guys. He will definitely get some snaps, but NO WAY he starts a game. IMO Jarrett Lee is gonna be very good when he gets some time under his belt and will take over the starting role by mid-season if he isn't already starting. He is a very accurate passer and can move better than people give him credit for.

considering JL didnt get sacked once his junior year gives your statement some credence

This thread is very worthless, especially for those who think Garrett would never start at LSU.
So who's he gonna start over?

He'll start hsi RS JR and RS SR years in my opinion.
Once Jordan Jefferson graduates Chris G. will start in a duel-quarterback system with Russell Shepard.
If RS moves to another position, then CG will have the starting spot outright.
I definitely think it will take a few years before he sees PT.

I agree, but the arm strength and speed he brings to the table cannot be coached. And this is not what garrett or lee or hatch can bring to the table, so it limits crowton's offense with fewer options.
crowton's offense seemed to work just fine with matt flynn at quarterback last year.
you need to stop talking. you have not said one intelligent thing in this thread.

So you don't think we'll sign any of the stud QBs in next year's class?

we're going to recruit conner wood real hard, and hit terrance broadway real hard also but i have a feeling thats pretty much it. if neither of those commit to us then no, we wont sign any IMO

I don't think they will start ahead of him.
Unless we get another freak like Russell Shepard (which could happen with Broadway), but even Terrance B. will need a good bit of developing.
CG getting an extra year of college training is a HUGE advantage for him. Technically he is very sound at this point for high school QB as well.
Honestly, it is very hard predict the QB lineup in 3 years...so many variables.

We will sign one QB next year IMO.
I am doubtful on Connor Wood (I think he goes to UGA, but thats just a hunch) and nothing has really come out on Broadway other than Bama is already on top of him.
Who is the big time QB out of TX that is interested in LSU for 2010...his name is slipping my mind right now.
Posted on 8/7/08 at 1:37 pm to lynxcat
this is the only other 2010 QB from TX i can find
Joseph Sanders

Any stud QB's we do sign will have to beat out a stud QB that is a RS Jr with 3years of experience in the system under his belt.

Nah, thats not him...I'll see what I can find.
I think he is out of TX, but I'm not positive.

Most of us at State moved on from this months ago. We have Tyler Russell from Meridian and Josh Hollingsworth that have already committed.
Posted on 8/7/08 at 4:51 pm to AlaTiger
this wouldnt be a terrible thing, just opens a spot for us to wait for sentimore

Sam Carter, you're right. i couldnt think of it either man

You never turn down a great QB prospect. You never know what may happen down the road. Just look back a few months.
Posted on 8/7/08 at 5:42 pm to AlaTiger
I think he's a good QB prospect and I want him to make good on his commitment to come to LSU, but I can't blame him if he's eventually turned off by the depth we'll have at QB.

My predictions are coming to fruition. With Lee out, it will be difficult after giving JJ more reps. Garrett will never step foot on campus. Shep --Slot back or DB. Also, I don't think the Tigers are finished at QB, probably sign another one.
