Anyone knows if St. Amant High Softball pitcher, Alyssa Romano, is being pursued by LSU? She really has good stats and her team is flying high with only 2 losses on the year, maybe 3.

LSU already has a way better pitcher committed for her class

May be, but sure they aren't ignoring a freshman in their back yard. We played them last year when she replaced the senior...and again this year. Night and day. She has grown as well. She went toe to toe last week against wickersham and never blinked

Is she 2020 or 2021?

Morgan Smith is committed out of Cali

2021- Raelin Chaffin is committed

Unless Torina wants to take multiple pitchers in a class.

She has 3 pitchers committed for 2022 though

But she is a very talented player no doubt

Lu lu is a 2020, not a 2021. And Beth isn’t looking at her unless she has picked up 7-8 mph recently. Beth generally won’t look at a kid hard until she hits 65 on a regular basis.

Let me clarify that I think the kid is a good pitcher and will do well for someone. This wasn’t a knock on her at all. Beth just looks for certain attributes.

Exactly and we are stacked at the position as of now. We really need to focus on fielders who can also swing a mean bat and it looks like LSU is finally starting to look and land some of these. We have great defense and pitching at the moment, we are simply missing those All American bats up and down the lineup. We coming though, I like Beth and think she will bring us a ship soon.

The only way she would possibly take someone who throws less mph is if the movement is incredible, basically you need Walljasper movement.

Chaffin seems to be around 62-65 a lot but she is only a freshman should be able to add more more velocity by the time she comes here. She should be able to be in the 64-67 area consistently. She hit 66 earlier this year but her development is coming. Chaffin is a phenomenal talent she's been really impressive so far her freshman year

.93 ERA 243 K's in 112 IP is the stats I saw

If she is not around 6' or taller she isn't looking at her. Do understand why she likes tall pitchers.

Never stood next to her, but she already close to looking Tidwell in eye. She has to have grown 3-4 inches in last year and increased 5-10 mph.
She is going to be interesting to watch next 18 months. Pitchers still great unknown when it comes to recruiting and how they look at 12U and 14U

Head to head dosnt matter And stats are whatever ....

But head to head Romano picked up a 3-1 win vs Chaffin 9ks no walks

And vs Wickersham 5-4 win 10ip 16 ks

But let me Clairify I’m 110% bias because I’m Alyssa’s dad .... she dosnt have the velocity to be major D1 right now but her movement is off the charts and she is a lefty ..

She had 49 wins in just 2 seasons at 5A level

She won’t be 6’ prob 5’9 / 5’10

Oh she’s also won 3 national championships Including last year as a 14u playing in 18u

She tops 60-62
With a change up that she changes no movement on ..... hard to hit when it’s on
Screw is decent
Curve has good break
Rise is her go to right now

Awesome

has she been on any visits to schools yet?

If she can add 3-5 mph she should be able to play at a really good school

I just don't know if LSU would have room if she were to do all of that but no doubt she's a talented lady who will do really well in college no doubt.

The fact that she is a lefty will be very appealing

I went to an LSUE game last week, and all I can say is wow those girls swing the bat. 2,3, and 4 hitters all had bombs in 1 game.

Her biggest attribute is that she has had to put up with you all these years and has come out of it without quitting.
