I came to LSU from Illinois because I wanted to experience something new, so it's hard for me to ever blame a guy for wanting to leave the state.

I love LSU more than anything...always did. But I also wanted desperately to get the eff out of dodge when I was in high school. My parents couldn't afford out-of-state tuition (and I didn't have the self-confidence to apply out-of-state and hope for merit based awards). My options were LSU or LaTech or ULL, etc. My definition of getting the eff out didn't mean going to Ruston or Lafayette, so I ended up at LSU and moved away as soon as I could after I graduated and got a bit of work experience.

Loved my time there. But if I'd been able, I would have been out of state in a heart beat...I would have always been a Tiger fan first and foremost but I would not have gone there.

I went to U-High K-12 and chose Bama. I wasn't a recruit since I never played football but I felt the same way about getting away and experiencing something new. So far I'm not regretting my decision at all.

I think I'd go to LSU no matter what but it's hard for me to know for sure since I am from New Orleans. One of the the things I like most about college is the change of scenery so I can't say for sure if I was already on campus that I'd want to come here as much.

Thats how I look at things, you don't have to see it that way. Most people would say I'm the complete opposite of small town though. I grew up in Nashville/NOLA/BR, and been fortunate to visit a lot of places in the US(~43 states). What I said works for me, it doesn't have to work for you or anyone else. People have their own reasons for doing what they do, yours may be different than mine.

Since when did U-High's enrollment become 30,000?

I would commit to USC a year ahead of time, on NSD put on a BAMA hat, and fax my LOI to LSU

Being a recruit is a whole other animal but I cant imagine how fun it would be to go to High School at UHigh then go to LSU seems like the adventure of going to college is diminished.

As a recruit It would be more of an incentive to me.

Given the opportunities at LSU, I'd stay local. That way all of my success could be channeled back to my family, friends, and the community that raised me.

A kid that grows up in BR and then commits to Bama in some ways forfeits their local claim to fame.

So okay, here goes, born and raised in BR, graduated from U-High, and I went to Bama, eventually came back to LSU. So why did I leave? shite, who knows, something different? The school sits literally in front of all the frat's on campus, you can sit in class and watch frat boys get drunk at 11am everyday. You have access to all the facilities at LSU, library, etc. I had been to every bar on campus by 11th grade! Sometimes change is good. Sometimes you have to broaden your view...In the end BAMA and LSU are not as different as you might think...

Not to mention the connections that would provide for a successful future when they come back home when their playing days are over. When they're finished there, they're still outsiders.

I could name a zillion players that left that are just as successful. It does not matter, the same opportunity exists anywhere, ask peyton and eli manning, or is mentioning them taboo on the recruiting board...

Fupid, they did it where they're from. If they go away for College and come back, they don't have as many patients/clients.
Oh and thanks for calling me that horrible name. You Internet Badasses so intimidate me.
Umm, Payton and Eli are Hall of Fame QB's. not even remotely a good comparison.

Dude, I hear you, but to act like those opportunities don't exist anywhere else is pretty narrow minded. It's ok, Baton Rouge is not the center of the universe, there is a big world out there...ahhhh, whatever makes you happy in the end.

Oh, I apologize. I didn't mean to insinuate they don't exist elsewhere. Most players don't make the NFL and if they go elsewhere with the intentions of coming home after College, there's just not the same opportunities that there would be if they had stayed. That's all I was trying to get across.
Probably the same for a Texas kid that plays here then goes back.
Sorry I was an a-hole.
