Great post dwright.
Agree that keeping some lines in to FL is important.
However, NTX now has 8 million people here & LSU needs to rebuild recruiting connections here. Too much HS FB talent here & in East Texas to ignore.
Plus, an easy 7-hr. drive each way to/from BTR.

Once again the good stuff comes from your posts. Super organized and easy to understand. Thank you Dwright!

Now all you have to do is commit to highest bidder. Coaches and their background and recruiting ability are secondary.
bullshite. NIL is the close of the deal. You need the coaches to get in the fricking door first and keep it open to get the chance to close.
Go show me examples of guys going somewhere out of left field because of a bag right at the end, with little evidence of a long relationship first. We all know there’s one now, but a guy like Deion Sanders can pull off that sales job. That’s the exception they proves the rule. Go find me another. I’m guessing you can’t, because there aren’t any.
Top players are still going to the usual programs after they develop relationships with the coaches. Which program they choose will largely be decided by the money at the end, but the relationship still comes first. You HAVE to have both, and that still requires a great recruiting staff.

I want to believe coaches matter in recruiting but Tamu refutes that view pretty easily... dont know how much money actually committed at Tamu but NIL changed their status substantially
Them landing this class is a new development, but damn some of you love to exaggerate. This isn’t Ole Piss going from the late teens to 1 out of nowhere a few years ago. Jimbo has had A&M consistently in the top 5-8 in recruiting for a few years now. They are a top recruiting staff. Their NIL money just put them over the top this year.

Skillet,
Here is a quote from a Nola.com article about Telly Hankton and the murder outside of the Jazz Daiquiri.
Troy Hankton signed with LSU in 2003. He was medically released, ended up being a gangster like Telly, Cup and Squirt Hankton.
Cortez has Coached at Dartmouth and Vanderbilt. I am sure they and CBK vetted him.
Honestly I think it is a strength having a rough family. He can walk in a living room and tell Mama he understands the danger her son faces daily and that he will watch over her son and guide him to a better life.

Calling out Hankton family unfairly cast a harsh light over the entire clan, the man said, noting that the sprawling Hankton family includes a former pro football player, Cortez Hankton, and an NOPD officer.

I went to school with the youngest brother Corde at Rummel (coaches at UT). He's not involved in the family past. So they obviously took the right path

Thanks so much, Tex.
And, I agree w/ you that LSU needs to improve its presence in north Texas. That specific area is one that Kerry Cooks should be able to help w/ as he's an Arlington, TX native.
Additionally, Jamar Cain should be a big boost for LSU in North Texas b/c he had plenty of turf wars against UT in that exact area during his time on the Sooner's staff.

Means nothing if local businesses isn’t ready to put out the money

It's not meaningless, but gotta have both working in tandem - good recruiters & NIL deals.
NIL deals alone won't work, nor will a great recruiting staff w/out the $$$

Numbers are lower because of A&M has stepped up there game
And
UT hired Sark (shiny has worn off)
I expect A&M to be thorns for years to come because of Jimbo
UT not so much

Very true, relationships create the foundation. If they like you they trust you. The money is the icing on the cake!
