Does anyone know how many scholarships Bama and Georgia used? If they used their full amount then they shouldn’t be able to sign Gilbert correct? I know Clemson does not typically sign a whole class.

Ok my lazy arse looked it up and Gumps show 24 (don’t know how many they signed last year).

Problem is Georgia only signed 20 and Clemson 18.

I’ve read where Bama has 26 spots this year. They rolled one over from last year.

How? They signed 25 last year and 27 in 2019!

Edit: They also took 2 transfers both years, so it is really 27 and 29.

I’ve said this before, but here it is again- the SEC has not decided whether they will allow inter-conference one-time waivers. If they don’t allow them, Gilbert would have to sit a year before playing, which makes him leaving for Bama or UGA less likely.

He could still go out of conference without waiting, but realistically there are only 2 or 3 programs he would consider, and that’s if any of them have room at that point.

This is probably why he hasn’t entered the portal yet. He’s not burning the bridge back here yet for a reason.

Was looking at the same thing earlier today. I really don't get how they can sign so many. We lose a cb to Clemson because we didn't think Cole Tracy would count against our 25 and the gumps sign over 25 every year. I know you can grey shirt if there is room from the previous class but the math just doesn't work when you are signing over 25 multiple years in a row.
