With all due respect, all I saw on the video was one nice speed rush by Bates, then a screen play where he was supposed to be let in, then clearly Faulk missed an assignment and Bates got the RB. I didnt see them go 'heads up' except on the one speed rush.... I dont see that it proves anything for either kid.
Agreed. All it proves is that he wasn't "kept out of the backfield". Neither one "dominated". But to say that Faulk "kicked his arse" is untrue.

To bad i never said he was dominated i said faulk kept him out of the backfield, if you know houston you know every game he is in the qb's face that game he was not in the qb's face like other games, never said faulk dominated, and yes i was there

Dude...2 screens and a zone read...hahahaha That was not Bates beating Faulk...that's the playcalling and design causing that. Jeez.
Also, going back to Kurt Hester vs Brandt Quick...I worked out with Kurt for two years and he was there every freaking day. He was always on us to keep working hard and helped us achieve our best. Dude was awesome. I now workout at Franco's and I see Brandt and he is good too, but Kurt is on another level. When I was at Kurt, they had Cincinatti Bengal Lineman, countless D-1 football players and prospects, and then all the way down to the young kids. But no matter who you were, he worked with you as if you were the NFL pro. Brandt does not have that same resume or reputation. It humors me that the guy said Kurt's rep is just his name on the wall. That's just absurd. KURT>>>>>>>>>>>BRANDT

I don't think it would be revealing premium-service info to say that this kid put on a good showing at the Scout combine.
The linebacker/DE question is the big one, and it won't be answered until after his senior season, or maybe his first college training camp. Hopefully that's at LSU -- the kid seems to have a big heart and fast motor.
A classic tweener, though.
