I'd let the Sophsers walk if it required 2 ships. I'd rather 2 highly touted players but that's just me. Seems LSU should be at a position where they don't have to give package deals just to get a player. Hard to complain about them locking down the state if it happens.

I agree. It’s not about a kids name or star ratting. It’s about keeping the best in state players to stay home and play for Louisiana schools. Even if it’s not LSU

We need d-lineman, but you're assuming that we can GET 2 highly rated d-linemen at this point. I'd take the Sopshers unless Coach O is certain that he can get 2 others - Young, Pickering, etc., etc.

No its not. It's about getting them to LSU. Screw the rest of the schools.

And what if they can't get 2 other highly touted players in their place? You still want to pass on Ish?

1 DLineman out of that group and a free spot for a transfer or 2020 EE is better than the two Sopshers.

Seems LSU should be at a position where they are going to the playoffs every season - but they're not.

Luckily, our coaching staff doesn't worry about what LSU should be, they know what it is and recruit accordingly.

You nailed it. People who say they wouldn't give two schollies for the Sophsers are assuming we have our pick at others. Doesn't really seem we are in position right now for any other D-Lineman, so why not so the package deal for a 5 star in our backyard. Yes, I know a lot of people aren't crazy about Ish, but let trust that O can get the best out of him.

We don't need to stop there! We need to add big-time depth at every position! Keep'em coming O!

Why not give Rodney the Scholarship? There are a bunch of guys every year who hardly ever play so I guess you can say these were wasted schollies. My point is guys like Rodney'S brother are worth two of a lot of recruits.

Because of numbers and who you could potentially be turning down. There are some really talented players left on the board that LSU is simply going to have to turn down IMO. Plus, if there are already wasted schollies wouldn't it worse to add on an extra? Of course he could always shock us and actually contribute.

I wish there was a way to get him on as a walk-on or something, but that's just me. I hate to hear we may be backing off Pickens. Is it a position of need? Maybe not, but he is such a weapon.. can throw it any where in his direction and he can go get it.

Some people try to make the case that well he would only count against this year.. but that still takes away a potential 3-4 year player LSU could have in that spot.

If Bama doesn't even have the room for him I imagine they would make the room? Otherwise, who is LSU even competing with for him outside of Alabama?

All the people against taking both Sopshers are crazy. We have 85 scholarships. One "bad" one out 85 is not going to hurt, especially when it means landing the no. 1 DT. Only 11 of those 85 are on the field at a time. When one of those 85 is said no. 1 DT and that "bad" scholly is sitting on the bench with 73 others, I doubt anyone will complain. And how many guys do we have that never see the field any given year? Finally, Ish will be around longer than Rodney. I highly doubt Rodney has 3 years of eligibility remaining. So he won't be taking that spot for long anyway.

ETA: we only travel with 70 schollies for SEC road games. Pretty sure Rodney will be watching from his dorm anyway.
