Good luck finding me, buddy.

You see how much nicer Kiel's throws are? You see how he places the ball with good velocity, while Rivers lofts his balls up in the air? You see how Gunner can make it into tight windows, while all of Rivers' balls are thrown to wide open receivers?
The competition might be making a difference on the openness of the receivers - Alabama HS is a heck of a lot better than Indiana, especially defensively (lots more black kids playing in Bama - in case you were wondering).
I don't see a lot of difference between the two, to be honest with you. Rivers looks a little better scrambling and Kiel looks a little better when making a designed QB run. Passes are similar, though it looks like Rivers gets the ball a little deeper on his longest throws and Kiel's are timed a little better. Frankly, based on those highlight vids, I can't understand why you're frothing at the mouth for one, and are relatively dismissive of the other. I'm no expert either, but I've been watching football for 40 years.

And so the Rivers vs Keil debate starts!

I could care less, but gunner looks head and shoulders better to me. Competition or not, gunner is fitting into very tight windows and has a stronger arm. I don't see one thing that Philips does better

Well - one thing, neither one of those kids apparently ever took a snap under center in HS - so Rivers has had a whole year learning the C/QB exchange, as well as 3 & 5 step drops and the playbook.
You saw Kiel with a stronger arm than Rivers in those videos posted? His shorter passes had a little more zip and better timing overall, but Rivers looks like he had a deeper ball, especially outside, at least to me.

Kiel's tape definitely isn't overly impressive. I really don't understand how he is rated so high but I'll take him. Nice problem to have on the depth chart.

I'm not saying he doesn't look polished - I'm saying I see film, one from a shotgun/wildcat QB in Alabama from 2010 and one from a shotgun/wildcat QB in Indiana from 2011 and they look like men among boys. Kiel has a little bit of happy feet and stares down receivers...Rivers has a little bit of happy feet and stares down receivers. Both guys look comfortable with contact (against athletes that are much smaller than those they will face in NCAA football) - both looked mobile for their size. Both guys obviously have a big league arm.
I watched the videos specifically to discuss this - the poster who linked them obviously sees much more of a dramatic difference. I don't. I want to land Kiel because we need as many good QBs as we can get and he looks like a pretty good one.
So does Rivers. That's all I'm saying.

For Rivals to have him a 5 star means something
He has size and skill...but he has to carry that forward and continue to improve and develop where ever he goes to school.
A prospect is just that, a prospect..
I really hope we land him

Kiel is better physically and mentally than Rivers
You're out of your mind. Rivers was listed #4 all year. #3 opening day. Is that because he isn't good enough to play?
I hate when people come here and say a high school kid is physically and mentally better than a kid that's been on campus a year and was ready to play #3 opening day of his freshman year
You can link ranking and highlights from high school all you want, but once you're in college, it's a completely different game.
You don't know what Rivers has done. You don't know how he's played in practice. You don't know how much of the offense he knows. Then you're saying a high school is already better? That's laughable at best.
Look, I like keeping up with recruiting but the most important thing you need to do is keep things in perspective and remember that MOST high school kids don't come in and start immediately. Especially at QB which is the most important position on the field. ...and especially in the SEC. If Kiel has to play next year, then LSU has problems.
Step back, take a deep breath, and just enjoy the thought of the future. Not the immediate future.

I don't think it's crazy to suggest Kiel > Rivers. Rivers has some upside, but Kiel's potential is pretty high.

Right now?
You're going to tell me that Kiel is physically and mentally better RIGHT NOW than Rivers?
No way. I dont think you believe that either. EVENTUALLY, yes.....he could be better than Rivers.....I agree. Potential/ceiling and current talent/abilities are two completely different things.
