How reliable is this Gino guy?

Fairly connected. About as reliable as these kind of things are. Which is: better than a wild guess, but not set in stone.

Gino is solid

yes. Are you saying it is either BETTER than "set in stone"? Or, are you saying it is WORSE than "a wild guess"?
Because I put it between those two. Please tell me how I am incorrect.

I think he's saying that he's playing the odds. If he comes out correct, he looks great. If not, well, his source was lied to or there was a last second change of heart. It's standard operating procedure for some.

That can be said for every post on this board that predicts / projects a recruit to ____.
I don't know Gino. Don't care. But, he has his sources and they fall between wild guess and set in stone. Simple.

Sounds like one has a better chance at picking a roulette number than the college choice of an unpredictable HS Sr....

Not when it's been narrowed down to two.

his quasi-recruiting articles are some of the finest pieces of journalism I've seen anywhere, particularly his Greyson Lambert piece from this summer
quote:
Greyson Lambert update post LSU and Alabama camps When speaking to Drexel Lambert last night at 9:45 Pm., it was established that Greyson was worn out and already sleeping. When asking Mr. Drexel Lambert how did he think Greyson has done thus far, he responded," Greyson didn't have a great camp at arkansas, but started looking better at L.S.U., and had a great day today at Alabama." Mind you this conversation took place last night. Probably was his best day of camping so much. Speaking of today Greyson went to Tenn., so their original itinerary has been modified. He should follow up the week with going to Florida St. on Thursday and possibly going to Florida on Friday for Friday Night Lights. I asked Mr Lambert how did he feel when coach Kragthorpe extended the offer for Greyson to attend a second day in Baton Rouge, even though they had Alabama scheduled for a Tuesday visit? He replied," I told the coaches wehn we arrived, that here is our plans for the rest of the week, but they are just that, plans." "Nothing is set in stone, and we can have him perform as much is as needed." When asking if Greyson has 5 official visits in mind for the upcoming year he replied," Right now we don't have any clue, but we will not go most likely to somewhere we are pretty familiar with such as Alabama." " So don't read into anything as far as where he does or does not go for officials once that is determined." I asked him how he felt about seeing some of the other kids competing at the camps? He said," Well we are starting to talk with some familiar faces, for example we had met Landon Collins' parents in Baton Rouge than saw them again in Alabama the next day.' I finished with a final question asking him did the coaches tell Greyson thus far, and replied," They said pretty much the same thing all the other coaches have said,' We are going to evaluate the film of the camp participants over the next week and get back with you.' " Lastly, when bringing up the subject of other QB recruits like Liggins, he responded, he didn't get a chance to see as much as he would have liked, because Liggins came in later to the camp and didn't participate in some of the drills like Greyson had done, like QB roll out passes." To sum it all up, it is my humble opinion that the dominoes will fall in certain places with QB.'s around the SEC, and better determine where this kid will end up in college. His dad is being very supportive, and putting lots of time and miles on their vehicle enhancing the chance he has at making it to a major school. His agility drills are getting better as he has fully recovered from his leg injury. written by: Gino joubert

PP7 was an absolute can't miss prospect. Everyone wanted him.
Some players - it's just obvious. Not able to see him play in person, and only getting glimpses of highlight reels it was hard to tell for sure. Once I saw the video of his first practices in pads, doing backpedal drills and turns, I knew he would be as good as advertised. Having never played college ball he looked like a pro corner and, standing next to our players, I knew the measurables couldn't have been fudged too much.
I agree Kiel is not an obvious of a "can't miss", and the primary knocks are level of competition and deep ball passing. However, ALL QBs are that way, and the discussion is made at every level. We need to look no further than Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russell - monsters in college, complete busts at the professional level.
How many HS superstar QBs fail to pan out? Most of them.

I've never read a single thing by that guy and don't know what type of writer he is, but damn, that was hard to read.

PP was on another level.
I remember reading some reviews of his performance and the Nike camp and 7 on 7 drills. Coaches at those things were saying things like "pro ready" and "head and shoulders better than the field"

I love QBs with toughness. I know in Indiana he has never been hit as hard as he will by guys like Clowney, Ingram, Upshaw, Moseley. I'm interested to see if he hangs tough in the pocket, or is afraid to get hit (like J Lee).
The boys up north don't pack the same kind of punch that SEC Defenses do.

I feel like he has the Andrew Luck body type from his highlights. He is thick and runs pretty well and doesn't avoid contact.

Did you watch his junior film? It's nothing but him running the read option and punishing people. I agree that the SEC is head and shoulders better but the kid ain't scared of contact.

Hot off the pages of Southern Times, Girls, and Sports. Doesn't say much - no new news. The name of the blog just caught my attention.

I agree. He lowers his shoulder into DL's and LB's with a purpose a good bit in his film.
I stick by my Andrew Luck body type comparison. Thick and athletic with the ability to move well, but will still be a pocket passer with a great arm.
