If LSU lands Kiel, this would be off the charts huge IMO.

i agree, and i thought that was the original plan.
but fullers film is the real deal LINK # and if he doesnt work out at QB he has the ability to play multiple other positions.
Agree, but if he moves positions, it could be after a year (I don't think BK will promise him QB and then right when he signs immediately move him) which may again impact if we can sign a top 2013 QB. That's my main concern. I wouldn't mind signing him at QB if it doesn't knock us out for some 2013 elite prospects. But if a guy sees a QB right in front of him by a year, it could make a difference.
As a side note, the production of that highlight tape is the best I've ever seen. I got chills after the first minute and there weren't even any plays shown yet.

I seriously believe it is 50/50 between LSU and ND right now.
The only reason I think we may have just the narrowest of edges is all of the activity lately - the turnaround after the unofficial, the recent noise, but I tend to agree - he's a legacy for Notre Dame and that is Indiana's big league football school. If it was more than a hair off of 50-50, he would have committed well before today.

More concerned about losing Shepard, Greenbury and Darby to poaching then I am about landing Kiel. We really need to add speed at ND...something LSU continues to add every year. Nothing is guaranteed until they sign on the dotted line.....

Yeah - the old saying, you don't win or lose based on the kids you don't get - you win or lose based on the kids you do get. Signing them is only the first step.

Shepard and Greenbery are solid. Darby does scare me.

Bourque goes elsewhere
Does he not really want to come to LSU or something? Why is he wavering?

I havent been following this Keil guy much but someone please compare him to another QB in recent years. TIA

Wants to be the only rb in the class. Skeered of Hill.

He's just one that I could see going elsewhere because of logjam at RB, although I hope he stays. I was just listing some possibilities that could occur to open up room for some late commits(cause the numbers are getting tight).

really shouldn't be spreading rumors like this.

What's more accurate? He said he wanted to be the only rb in the class, but was told Hill may or may not come. Well Hills coming.

Although I wouldn't be extremely worried if he bolted, his dad recently said in a TigerBait article he's not scared of hill or any other competition. He said he'd have to compete anywhere and he's ready for it. He sounded pretty solid to me, but that was about a week and a half ago, things could've changed.
Having said that I think he's a talent and I would love to get him, I just don't think he'll be a RB. They did turn Blue, who is a similar body type, into a good RB but I just think Bourque runs too straight up. I think he'd be a great WR, and can end up being a 6'2 215lb WR, which is what we need. Does anyone know if he can play LB tho?

As this thread is hopelessly hijacked now (and sorry for whatever part I may have played) - Bourque would fit better at WR, IMO - in any event, he'll redshirt next year and figure it out. I'm fairly confident that we'll get enough LBer hits in the incoming class we won't have to move anybody - we still need more LBers in every class, but this is the first in a long time without a glaring weakness - I guess Chavis only needs 2 prototype on the field at a time and will find somebody to play that third spot that is more of a hybrid LB/DB.

Gunner reminds us of...Peyton Manning
Just to clarify. Rivals has a pretty good track record of their 5 star QBs panning out. They don't give out many, and in 2010 they didn't have a 5 star QB. Now about Manning. I don't think many people are comparing his talent level, but I have heard some people say that mentally Keil reminds them of Manning. He's got talent too.
We want this guy. He could do great things at LSU

I am now convinced that Saturday Down South is total garbage. Not only were they bankrupt in their reporting that Kiel was down to ND and Vandy, their latest article says that Kiel's dad went to ND. Kip (his father) played for Butler University. It was his uncle Blair Kiel who played for ND and spent some time in the NFL and in Canada and Arena Football.
