No, he asked if they did that and Ponamsky said no he went home. Ponamsky also said that it is extreamly unusual to follow up and unofficial with an official so fast

This is what I recall that was said - likewise, I've never heard of it happening before, but the EE brings some sense to it.

Thanks for the update.
I have a hard time understanding why distance is a factor. If his parents really are rich couldn't they fly in anytime.
Also he never really liked ND. I guess he is now warming up to the idea because They are one of the last options left.

you do not have to "go home" you just have to leave campus.

Didn't Gunner say something awhile back that education was huge to him? Which is why Vandy is on that list too...

Could be a situation similar to Luck. Go anywhere you want but he still chose Stanford for education first. I'm thinking distance is a major problem for LSU too. Distance is usually the #1 factor in blue chip recruits thinking.

Not going to get my hopes up for him right now.

Gunner Kiel plays like Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning plays for the Indianpolis Colts

Indianapolis is 51 miles from Columbus

Peyton Manning is from New Orleans

Gunner Kiel spent the weekend in New Orleans

Therefore, Gunner Kiel MUST be going to LSU!
(right?)

Brady can't run a lick....I do agree with Brees and Rogers though. Brady runs like Rich Eisen.

haha, i was about to say, brady might be the most immobile guy in the league. which is saying a lot, because peyton can't run for shite either.

Arkansas, IMO, is starting to more and more go that route. They have signed 12 JUCOs in the last 3 years, have 1 committed right now for 2012 and an Arky friend of mine said they are heavily recruiting 4 more for this year. The majority of their JUCO recruits have been defensive players, a place they have struggled recruiting the high school ranks in.

Sounds like they are trying to shore up the D ASAP because they feel like they have the talent on O to win it all right now.

JUCO guys should always be viewed as supplemental IMO. You don't win MNCs with a roster full of JUCO guys.

If he really liked ND, they would have actually been considered when he first committed. Instead he picked Indiana over Stoops and Saban.

Maybe he is now warming to the idea of playing for ND.

I wish we weren't the first visit. And notre dame isn't the last visit.

Good luck GK with your tough decision. After spending a week on the LSU campus, it will make any other school look, meh. Throw in a SEC Championship season and a National Championship season to boot, I like our chances very much.

As for BK and ND, he is not the answer. ND hired a Big East coach and that conference has proven to be weak year after year. Big East coaches aren't proving themselves very well after they leave that conference are they. Rodriguez, Kelly, Edsall. Pretty easy to beat up on a Big East schedule. ND must get serious about hiring a big time HC, a proven winner from either the SEC, Pac12, Big12 or Big10.

The way Kelly is handling QB's this season, we should have plenty of firepower dismissing, what I feel, is our primary competition at this point.

I am feeling like Kiel will be the recruit beneficiary of our great season.

Who has been hosting him from a player perspective?

I'm no recruiting expert, but it sure does look like a good sign that he came to the Arky game, and then returned 3 days later.

So was the official scheduled BEFORE the unofficial? I suspect not. If that is the case then I am thinking we might be in the driver seat.

Here is how I envision this going! He decommits and picks a few teams thinking ND is it. Entertains the LSU option not really thinking it is going to be where he ends up.

Coaches make an impact! Finds out LSU has what he academically what he is after and realizes LSU is not a bottom of the barrel university in a lot of fields.

Goes to the Ark. game and is mesmerized. Immediately sets up an official thinking this is IT!

I think he is a Tiger in his heart now and it is just a matter of taking the other visits. I realize I might be totally off with my thinking but I feel sooo good about getting his sig. right now.

If Gunner comes here he will be the starter after Mett.

And based on what people here are saying (I live in IN) dont be surprised at all if we get him. No, I dont have any inside info, many people around here just dont see him going to ND.
