don't know what you were watching, but most of his passes looked a little slow and low to me.

Some were on the money, but he's going to have to make a big adjustment to the SEC. He's got good size and good release going for him, which makes his lack of elite arm strength kinda baffling.

Haven't watched game film of him, but when 5'8-5'9" receivers have to crouch to get the ball, that's not gonna cut it at LSU with our taller recievers.

Maybe I'm just being overly critical, and don't have the full body of his HS film to judge on, but at his current stage, it's gonna take him every bit of the spring and summer to adjust.

A true freshman is gonna have to adjust before he's ready for the SEC? Weird.

The Future... I would ask you to look again. The ball had a lot of zip. ...look at the receivers and lack of route running practice

with the QBs.

I thought Gunner looked excellent given the circumstances.

Really good chance he redshirts next year. Miles has been burned, as would anyone, starting a Freshman in the SEC. Also think thats why Kiel chose LSU. Mett has the helm for the next couple years, with GR intermittent, while Rivers and Gunner develop. The thing with Kiel, is the mental progressions that are elite, and thats all you really need at LSU--get it out quickly to the athletes.

Gunner was tearing it up in practice today. That elite 11 film is before his senior season. Looks like one of the most polished qb's I have seen coming out of high school in a long time

I agree on the redshirt. Might only have him for three years though. Not likely but possible.

Still don't think he will see the field next year

great link LSUfan007700
I like the comment that "the receiver better be ready for the ball"
and "the velocity is there on the ball"

I'll reserve judgement until I see him play in the spring, but from that tape, I don't see all the oozing people are doing over him here.

If I showed you footage of Andrew Luck, you might say that while he has zip, he doesn't have the strongest arm you have ever seen.

But once you see his accuracy & his intangibles of making the right read and having great ball placement on crucial downs, you'd say Luck was a helluva QB.

Any scout that has gone on record with a Gunner Kiel comparison has either compared him to Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning because of his polish, his leadership, & his cerebral grasp on the game, in addition to his well-above average physical tools. That's hard to see in a few clips of skeleton drills.

Perfect way to put this. Just look at what everyone has been saying about him during the All American practices. We've got a good one no doubt.

He is throwing to a bunch of low level athletes who don't know how to run routes, and he has never worked with in that film. Every piece of film I have seen says the exact opposite of what you are saying.

I watched the Elite 11 show and Gunner looked good, just not the best. Early on the little kid with no offers at all looked great. In the end, it's just a camp with 16-17 year olds. He is probably better than most QBs we have signed coming out of high school and unlike the last "top QB" we got, he can actually play QB. That is why people are excited. We will never be a pass first team that creates Heisman buzz and makes him look like the best QB in football. All we need is a solid smart passer who doesn't hurt you. I think he meets that criteria and gives you more than you asked for. Trent Dilfer didn't fall in love with him. Trent Dilfer isn't our coach.

What did Trent Dilfer actually say about Gunner?

Why are many scouts saying his is #1, but Trent is not "impressed"

That was last summer, so he has played another year of football since that camp...

Why do people say he doesn't have a strong arm? It looked plenty big to me...one ball came right at the person filming the drill work..

it got there amazingly quick...it was the throw back throw..

I dont' think I am being a homer...the kid looks legit. Good fundementals..nice size...uses his eyes well

Kicking Bama's butts? Really? As for Kiel, when he picked Indiana Alabama pursued an other QB and landed one of the top QBs in the great state of Texas. OnceKiel decommited from IU, he called Bama and asked if we had a spot for him and they told him no. So, at least know that GK is a Bama reject and not the other way around

Saban excellent at evaluating QB talent, he sure figured out quickly what a looser of a QB Drew Breeze was.

How much truth is there to this story?

I don't see Saban turning away the #1 Pro style QB

Just NO!

i don't believe this garbage
