The LSU staff has put itself in a good position with the 2019 U.S. Army All-American with its approach. Those in Gunnell’s inner circle are favoring LSU, for the moment, and have distinguished themselves from the pack with their recruiting style.

Of the schools in Gunnell’s top 3, there may be more connections with LSU worth noting. Last week, top 100 wide receiver Jalen Curry visited Baton Rouge for spring practice. Sources on the team side believe they have put themselves in a very good position for his commitment after an impactful visit, his third in as many months. Additionally, Gunnell has a close relationship with elite running back Noah Cain, who took in LSU’s spring practice session on Tuesday. Cain has expressed an interest in playing alongside Gunnell at the next level.

Kardell Thomas, LSU’s highest-rated 2019 commitment, has been working Gunnell as well. His reaffirmed position with the Tigers is a major selling point for Gunnell and perhaps the offensive line that’ll be protecting him down the road. As does LSU’s stance with a number of elite prospects across the country such as Derek Stingley Jr. and Chris Steele.

Gunnell is expected to make his way back to Baton Rouge in the next few weeks as the Tigers continue spring practice. He is also expected to be in Tiger Stadium on April 21 for the annual spring game. His attention will be on the new offense and Ensminger’s touch on the passing game.
