he dude can tear both ACL’s and he will still be a top 2 round pick, signing a multi million dollar deal.
I'm not happy he's not playing and really don't see the difference between sitting out the bowl game and sitting out the last three regular season games.
Having said that, there's a huge difference, financially, between being a top 10 pick and being a second round pick and insurance doesn't come close to bridging the gap.
Remember, first round contracts are fully guaranteed.
Last year, the 10th pick in the draft got a fully guaranteed $17.8 million contract. The first pick in the second round only got around $5 million guaranteed.
I know, I know that's STILL a lot of money, but it's easy for us to sit behind a keyboard and say someone should risk $12 million. That's a huge difference. Also, who's to say the injury wouldn't drop him to the 3rd or 4th round, or be so severe that he doesn't even get drafted.
As for insurance, that's not all it's cracked up to be. First of all, they're expensive as shite. I've read they are about $10,000 per million of coverage. So, if Greedy is going 5th overall, and he wants insurance to cover his entire possible guaranteed contract, the policy would cost around $270,000. And, I'm not sure they will even insure a player for that much. Secondly, the payout only bridges the gap between total contract and total value of the policy. Jaylon Smith, for example, had a $7.2 million policy and his total contract with Dallas was $6.5 million, so his policy should pay him around $700k. However, on his contract, only around $4.5 million is guaranteed. Also, if he gets a second contract, he has to start paying back the original payout. He was going to be a top 10 pick that year. The 10th pick in the draft got $15 million guaranteed. So, Smith essentially lost $7.5 million due to his injury.
Can you honestly get mad at someone who decides not to put that amount of money at risk? Yeah, I wish he would play and vehemently disagree with the sentiment that bowl game are meaningless, but I certainly can't get mad at someone who doesn't want to take that risk.

I’m not saying there isn’t a big difference in being top 10 and a second round pick. I’m saying, the people who act like 1 injury is going to be the difference between him not being able to provide for his daughter or not is ridiculous. If he’s smart, he can never get another contract and he and his daughter will be able to live a very good, comfortable life for the next 10 years even without playing football. The whole “he has a daughter to think about” thing is overrated. That’s my point

Screw me? Lol great to see people with you like open minds. I would love for you to see Greedy Williams in person and tell him everything you just muscled up the courage to tell me over a phone screen. To me you aren’t a fan. Everyone in life has decisins to make and he is making the decision he thinks is best for him. You’re entitled to your own opinion, but don’t shite on a 21 year old looking out for his daughter, and making a decision you have no idea about. You’re an a-hole and he doesn’t owe you shite. frick you, BOTTOM LINE!!!!

I've seen Flott play and there is potential there, but to compare to Greedy it's not even close. Flott is very athletic, but still has a lot to learn before he steps on the field for LSU.
Are you sure you’re comparing HS to HS? Or are you grading against Greedy now?
Greedy didn’t even touch the field as a true frosh.

To thetexastiger7, i guarantee you my mind is way more open than yours and have been through way more in life so again, screw you! Ain't nobody shitting on Greedy, just cause i say he's making a bad decision that will negatively affect him? I stand by that and would tell him the same exact thing. That doesn't change the fact that he's been a great player and has the right to make that decision. At the same time, i have the right to thinks it's a turrible decision. You sound like the close-minded one cool guy and prolly not very loyal so enjoy being a selfish a-hole!

Yes sir I’m such a COOL GUY, and OF COURSE IM NOT LOYAL!!!!!! WHO NEEDS LOYALTY???? Lol you a bitch bruh. What does “having been through more in life” have anything to do with what we are talking about? I 100% don’t think you would tell Greedy Williams in person “hey you’re making a bad decision” or whatever else it is you would want to say. I have seen countless amounts of people shitting on him yes. How will this decision negatively affect him? Lol, maybe he’ll drop 1 spot in the draft!!! No he’s a Top 5 guy, this decision has no meaning to it whatsoever besides a couple of butt hurt fans like you getting mad at him, when y’all don’t know what you’re talking about.

Ha! I'm the keyboard warrior, but you're the one calling people names on the screen! Also, I was responding to your statement about not being open minded and going through things in life gives you that and makes you realize things that are important in life? Did you forget the shite you were just talking? I would tell him, but it wouldn't matter and I couldn't care less if you believe that. Quit getting your panties in a wad and open your mind you hypocrite. His decision makes him look selfish and I know teammates/coaches think about things like that no matter what they say in public. I disagree with his decision, you agree? Good, life goes on and i'm sure they'll be another topic we disagree on so see then. By the way, Devin White says hi!

Call me when you’re in that same situation and then if you choose to stay at LSU, well then maybe you can actually speak about the matter!
I get most of your post, but this last part is just stupid. Basically it would rule out all discourse about just about everything.

I did get overly worked up on my post and I apologize, I guess it’s safe to just say we disagree on it. It is a message board after all disagreements come all the time. I do agree how some people can see it as being selfish, I just think he’s done a great deal for us and I’m glad he was and will always be an LSU Tiger.

The only reason I mentioned it, is because not any of us have been in the same situation he has been in. I’m basically stating if we were in his exact same position, I’m not sure everyone would feel the way they do about it now.

I did not see Greedy play in high school, but I was pointing out that Flott has a long way to go in development before he sees the field. A lot of people talk about how this player or that player will see the field early, but I don't think that's the case with Flott. Awesome potential, but needs some good coaching and to go against top quality players to see just how good he can be. I hope the kids turns out to be the next Greedy!

Good post Texastiger, I get worked up all the time as well and always have to remind myself that this place is for people to express their opinions no matter how much I may disagree so I don’t take it to serious. It’s fun to argue sometimes, but we are all here for one reason and that’s because we love them tigers!!

There probably not a single teammate that is not secretly wishing they had the same opportunity, as for coaches any one of them would leave the second their contract is up for a major increase in money so are they really in any position to judge a player's decisions concerning their future financial earnings.

Have you ever played a meaningful sport? If my teammate was awesome and had the opportunity to better himself in whatever way, I would happy for him, but would expect him to finish out with his team. You think I would be cool with him sitting out cause he didn’t want to risk injury or whatever reason. What’s that say about me or the rest of the team. You can tell the coach expects the same, but he’s obviously not gonna come out and bad mouth the kid! Also, I sincerely believe coach O is where he wants to be at this time and money is not gonna change that.
