Placebeaux, it was your comments in another thread that I had in mind when I said "opinions vary." I don't think anyone truly "knows," but there are certainly many who follow this for their livelihood that seem to favor LSU at this point, even if slightly.
Are you in a position to give us further detail on what you've heard/how close to the situation your source might be? If not, I think/hope we can all understand that.

I'm remembering a quote that a St Aug Assistant Coach attributed to Nick Saban: "If he (LF) doesn't come to Alabama, it won't be because of money."
I take that as they will pay whatever it takes. Hopefully, and I think they are, the Fournette family is above this sliminess.

Everything that I've seen, heard, and read about Leonard suggests his family has raised a very level headed and responsible young man. If he chooses to go to another institution, I will be inclined to believe that he has made the decision for the right reasons (opportunity to hone his craft, education, broadening of his horizons outside of football, etc.) That being said, those factors might support a decision for Michigan or a west coast school much more so than our bitter rivals in the yellowhammer state.
In the meantime, we will hope that he does indeed opt for LSU.

Bama wouldn't surprise me. I know when I asked about it last year my guy thought LF was going to Bama. Like no doubter going there. That was before they took so many backs last year and LSU didn't though.

Nah, my personal opinion is LSU would not have signed 0 backs last year unless they were confident in LF.
