The whole collegiate experience is in itself, a time of freedom, rebellion and filled with that feeling of newness/freshness or starting anew. For some, the familiarity of having been engrossed in LSU Football and other athletics that bring them to campus could wear on some kids.
I think building on those themes from the standpoint of transitioning into manhood, continuing to help them to define their responsibility to the greater community, their family, the team, and ultimately to themselves will introduce a line of thinking that goes a little deeper than just the base "business decision."
It's a little more detailed than that, but in essence, give them a reason to want to make their transition into manhood only at LSU, under the guidance of this Coach and his coaching staff. That journey, really never gets stale and is filled with the stuff that captures the imaginination of both the initiated and uninitiated.

The plain stupidity of the OP is overwhelming.
You have showed in one post you have no clue how college recruiting works, how we lost a few top recruits we wanted from in state and how little you know about recruiting in general.
Are you a fan of another team?

Up vote because while not great that was a good job/effort post that doesn't deserve a 0:15 ratio

Pretty good thoughts for the most part. Bottom line. ... winning keeps the program "shining". But, it seems to me that most high profile kids from BR suit up in purple&gold. Certainly they're inundated with exposure to LSU.

I know right?!? Funny how the guys who commit to LSU always look so happy and the guys who go elsewhere look meh.
Chi is another one you'll see excited like that

And think about ALL of the in-state kids who would LOVE to play at LSU but can't b/c they aren't good enough.
They end up at ULL and Tulane and Miss St. and USM and UTEP and tons of other programs all the while dreaming that they could play in Tiger Stadium.
"The shine is off" - LOL

Exactly
That commitment video compared to GWIII's and Speedy's - theirs are literally like a business transaction being made. Leonard's is a kid getting to bask in his moment and celebrate with those closest to him who are psyched for him.
Let them go, you can't keep all of them nor do you want to when it comes down to it.

Yea I'm not one who will ever say we don't want someone we were recruiting. If we lose them it is what is. They are Tiger Bait after NSD.

Right, recruit them as effectively and as hard as possible but if they choose to play elsewhere why does everyone dwell on the few and not the frick ton of in state studs that we HAVE on the roster?
And yes, Tiger Bait

How does a kid leave if a kid grows up in Louisana and cheers for LSU his whole life? There are only a few reasons -
1) He wants to play a different position or scheme that he feels will suit him better.
2) He gets paid by a booster to go.
3) He does not like the position coach or he develops a relationship with a coach from another school.
4) He has a friend/girlfriend at or going to another school.
5) He sees the depth chart and sees he will not play right away and he lacks confidence in his ability to compete and win the job. i.e. he takes the easier road with less competition.
I think you will find that one of these or more than on apply to all the ones we lose.

Without even knowing how this class will finish (but knowing that it will finish well because Les is at the helm), I would take a class of this caliber every year and be elated. For those from Louisiana who rejected LSU, they will be replaced - some by equal talent, some by better, some by worse. But overall the class will look very similar either way. Les has the luxury of concentrating on Louisiana kids because La. typically provides a higher level of talent than most other states. And I appreciate that he offers Louisiana kids first. But if they reject LSU, then frick'em. They can and will be replaced. There are a ton of schools who would gladly trade places with LSU. You can't compare this years class by "percent of top 10 in-state commits" and similar stats. This year was possibly the best crop of recruits La. has ever produced, so they were going to be pursued that much harder by everyone else. Thus a proportionately higher number will choose to go elsewhere. But they are not irreplaceable.

I think you are on to something and I think the coaches know it and have learned from it.
But I totally agree with your theory. I also think letting the recruits drag out the process can only hurt the home team. If a kid really wants to play in state, why cant he just commit or set a reasonable date for a decision being fair to everyone. After that date, LSU and other recruits begin serious communication.
