Football recruits and "camping"

I am an LSU basektball fan first and foremost but love everything LSU. But could somebody please help explain why the staff want guys to "camp" so bad, or they have to camp to get an offer. Is it to see them in person or like a mini victory to get guys to come to the LSU camp?
I try and follow LSU football recruiting but do mot understand this aspect of scholly offers. Completely understand committable and non-committable offers.

Coaches like to see what these kids can do on the field, in person. They want to see things the highlight film doesn't show. They like to see how these recruits measure up with height, weight, 40 time, etc. Also to get a feel for the kids interest in LSU. Some of these "uncommittable offers" are to gauge interest, and for others, the coaching staff just wants to see more, because he hasn't seen enough to be accept a commitment.

Think of it as a job interview versus an impressive resume. Football coaches want to look a kid in the eye, and ask them questions - with the intention of getting a feel for each kid's drive to excel and coachability.
You simply cannot get that from film or live action.

The coaches want to assess the kids in person. They want to run them through their own drills and see how they handle everything in person.

Unfortunately we have had to be more low key these last couple of years, but the tide is changing my friend.
We have one scholly open and in 2 years may have the most athletic team in college basketball!

Lot of guys my age grew up following basketball more due to footballs frustrating 90s. Those days of Vargas, Blanton, CJ, Roberts, and Shaq were fun. The Pmac was rockin. Those days seem to be back, and I for one am excited as well. I may be one of the few that follow the big 3 sports equally. Some years that mentality saved me,lol
