Maybe it's an overreaction but since 1/9 every thread about Liggins/Alford/Winston has had someone chime in with some variation of "is anybody scared of recruiting this guy because of JJ".

The problem saints is that people see this liggins guy, who buy the way gis built like a dt and they say oh not another dual threat qb. And they are talking about not another JJ. People see a black qb and automatically think he will be a run first qb. But they forget about jmarcus, marcus randal, and davey. Neither of those guys were option qbs. Flynn still remains our best option qb over the past several years.

Wow. Some of you really read WAY too much in to stuff. I don't care what he looks like as long as he can throw. Like the other poster said, I'd would be tickled pink to have another Rohan or Jamarcus. I'll take Jamarcus over any other LSU qb in the last 8-10 years. Great arm and could run if he absolutely had to.

That statement wasn't really for you. But you would be surprised the things people say on here. No one has seen Randall play but they want him moved to WR already even though he has a gun for an arm. Liggins hasn't even committed yet but they say he should be moved to LB or TE. The proof is in the pudding

A qb is gonna sit on the bench 84. Someone is going to be butt hurt cus their guy isnt playing. Oh and Jordan isnt a dual threat, go back and look as his sr stats at dhan. Kiel ran the ball more in highschool than jordan did.

No doubt. JJ was a pro-style QB coming out of high school, but his strength ended up being his running ability ... go figure. My point is that the staff needs to decide what their "system" is and recruit accordingly. We've seen a lot of fail over the last 4 years because of a lack of identity on offense.

This is my point. You go from Russell, then to Flynn, then to Hatch/Lee/JJ, now to Mett and we had Kiel for a minute, then Winston/Liggins chace...I mean WTF. Totally different types of QBs. Mett is a pocket passer, then his replacement is going to be a dual-threat? I just don't get it.

The definition of a dual threat is a pocket passer that can also run thus making them a dual threat. I wish recruiting services would add scrambler to their ratings.

Shoot. With the talent we had this year, just give me Flynn or Mauck.

the last legit dual QB we had was RP and that show never got off the ground.

We could have been great those 2 years

Oh yeah its def up to the staff on what they do with the qbs they recruit. But it still doesnt mean we cant recruit a qb because he runs less than a 4.8. Doesnt mean he is a dual threat either.

Saints who is the dual threat that will replace mett? Rt now i dont see a dual threat qb on our roster. Randall has all the ability to be a threat in the pocket. Just depends on how the coaches eventually use him.

I think you have it backwards. You either want a real dual threat QB to run our option game or have the coach stop running the option with our QBs that can't run the option.

shep wasn't really a candidate for college QB

Why can't people understand this?

well JJ wasn't a dual threat, really

He was a no threat QB. Not a threa in the passing or running game.

I really want to see if Miles forces Mett to run the option next year or if he brings Randall in for a series a game like he did with Flynn and RP.

Please...just get a guy who throws the football from the pocket.
It seems the tards have found their way to the recruiting board.

I think the whole "RS was one of the top QBs in the nation" talk needs to die. The majority of people who follow recruiting and watched film on him pretty much knew he was not going to play QB here.
You know better than to bring things like this up.

So basically you don't want a QB who can run very well if he NEEDS to because you're affraid that CLM will not use him properly?

Winston is a star waiting to happen IMO. Your thread should be titled "Please CLM if your recruit a dual-threat QB, then can you not call designed run plays for him"

We haven't had a dual threat QB since LM kicked RP off the team. Dual threat does not equal throwing either over the reciever's heads or in the dirt at their feet.
