In your opinion how bad does LSU drug testing for marijuana hurt recruiting? Many of our competitors don’t test for this drug.

This is a taboo topic, but I agree, it needs to be addressed. You can’t tell me Bama players aren’t telling some of these recruits you can smoke weed every day and nothing will happen to you. It’s just common sense that this would happen.

I would just like someone to explain how this rule is in place. So it’s by each individual school? Is it a compliance dept issue? Like the compliance dept administers test? Write the policies/procedures/consequences?

Is it a fact that Bama does not test? Or is it some made up rant myth created by paranoid LSU fans?

I honestly don't know, and I'm curious. Do only states that weed is legal not test? Do other schools not test? If not, why don't they?

the problem is that the punishments vary from program to program. uga and Kentucky have the strictest. some schools "handle it internally". well known that jimbo never suspended players and urban meyer let Harold and kumar play. just ask percy Harvey and recruits that followed.

Players should not be suspended for pot. Ran until puked, yes, only because it weakens your play.

Not saying i agree or disagree with suspensions but if joe blow has to pass a drug test to get, and keep, a job then these kids should be tested and punished likewise. They are receiving hundreds of thousands worth of school and perks free of charge. Pass a fricking piss test.

I say this as an avid pot smoker. Have to have guidelines in place.

because the kids aren't sacrificing anything during this process are they, gtfoh. I'll bet they don't drug test at the SEC headquarters or the NCAA headquarters. They are the ones making hundreds of millions free of charge

Savion Smith couldn’t pass a drug test at LSU.

Savion Smith is a starter for Alabama.

There’s your evidence.

I’d imagine that a lot of parents would appreciate the fact that their kids wwould be disciplined for failing drug test. One of O’s recruiting pitches to parents is he’s going to watch over their kids like they are his own. Some parents might not care if their kid smokes weed but a lot do.

Regardless of your feelings towards marijuana it is still illegal in Louisiana and getting caught with it can land you in jail. It’s also still banned in the NFL, which is where all these kids want to end up.

Alabama isn’t doing anything wrong. The ncaa allows schools to handle recreational drug testing so Alabama, a smart program, chooses not to give a damn about weed.

LSU, a dumb program, chooses to suspend players like it’s going out of style

Not only does it vary by school, O in particular is a hard liner about drugs. If you read Meat Market, he basically had a zero tolerance policy at Ole Miss.

maybe there's some indication that he's softening SLIGHTLY; remember in the K Fulton piss test fiasco, he was freaking out because he thought it was a weed test, but the NCAA was running a required PED test only... if EdO was really a hard-arse, he would say "let's run a drug-screen on these guys while we got a urine sample"...

But, yeah, I'm sure schools have discretion over who/how often they test, how they 'punish', and more importantly, they can also PRETEND to be "tough on weed", but IRL give the players a down-low heads-up that a test is coming so they have a day or two to "study"

I somewhat agree, as a smoker, but I also believe this is a moot point in today's LSU being that TM7 is the last person of notice that I can remember who failed a drug test and got any punishment. I think we believe our policy is stricter than it is today.

LMAO. What type of school you sending them to? LSU isn’t nearly that much. I understand the point you're trying to make though. However, when considering the millions some of the kids contribute to bringing in, the benefits received by the parties is one sided.

That’s not really evidence or proof. Maybe Savion Smith learned a lesson, grew up and cleaned up his act. Maybe he realized he could lose hundreds of thousands if he keeps smoking weed.

That isn't evidence. What if he quit smoking? Or at least quit when they are likely to get tested?

Between the training, education, gear, food and all other "gifts" these kids get id bet its in the hundred thousand plus range.

Not saying the kids arent sacrificing and doint their part. Pount is passing a drug test is a part of their sacrifice according to rules. I have to pass for a job, that i feel sacrifice for so why shouldnt they?

The kids go into the process knowing the schools make millions so thats not a valid excuse to blow off a drug test. All are making money off one another. Its the old chicken egg which came first scenario. Who needs who more?

Yea, not likely

Even still, Hootie Jones and Cam Robinson were arrested with marijuana and didn’t miss a snap
