The howdy thing does grow on you that's for sure. I never had any affiliation with the school before I attended there and thought it was awkward. Now, I tell everyone howdy and I have to catch myself that I'm not on campus anymore.

Glad my jobs have kept me busy the last few weeks and I missed the main part of this thread. I would have been called an Aggie hater over and over again

We definitely offered as a WR, but it also may have been contingent on academic progress. Either way, we have interest.

Lsu can't sign all. Borque wants to play Rb and fron what we know was offered at wr. He is a great prospect and certainly top 20 in the state but with issues to work through. History tells us les takes chances with these kids when they're can't miss. Louisiana only has a few can't miss prospects this year. Rivals comes Out next week but of other sites rankings, only Toshiro, Lo Phillips, Devall, and LC are 4 star or better on all. Les has history of backing off of kids like this. See eddie Lacey and Floyd Raven.

I live around Houston and go to church with an Ag who always tells me Howdy on Sunday morning. It all makes sense now.

after reading GeauxAggies quote below yours asking me this question, I guess this is an Aggie tradition I didn't know about.

I just thought some A & M students he saw were that country.

I've been to a couple of games in College Station but don't remember anyone saying "howdy" to me.

Didn't mean to offend, without knowing everybody says that there it sounded funny to me.

If this kid was thinking "howdy" was cool I thought he must be kind of country. I was wondering if he talks with a twang himself like New Jersey Nets coach Avery Johnson.

Have you seen his film? Don't see anyway Hill, as a potential rapist, gets an offer over Bourque. Also Bourque is a much more physical runner than Hill. I think you people are trying to devalue Bourques talent because he is leaving.

Are you a scout? I always say these are Highlights tapes. Of course they look good. It consists of the players highlights. I will let the guy who rakes in annual top 6 classes do the evaluating. The truth is while I hope borque works thru the academic and legal/character issues, Lsu offered and had interest in him at WR for a reason and he wants to play RB. Lsu is loaded at rb and has the potential top player in the nation coming out from St aug in 2013.

Damn you're a hater and talking about things you know nothing about. did you ever go watch this young man play a game ? almost every time he touched the ball it was a highlight. don't listen to me ask the opposing teams or someone that atended a game... there are several great players in the state of louisiana and bourque happens to be one of them. 221 carries / 2,326 yards / 40 td's that's 10.5 ypc.... that's right at 194 yards a game and many games he was taken out early...

here's a DB article from the Lafayette paper with quotes: LINK

quote:

Texas A&M was one of the first schools to sprint out of the gates in the recruiting race for the talented Crowley High tailback.

On Wednesday, Bourque rewarded the Aggies for their quick-strike approach by announcing his verbal pledge to Texas A&M.

"I've visited Texas A&M four times and every time I went up there, it was like they had been knowing me my whole life," Bourque said. "The type of attention they showed me from the start, from the head coach all the way down my position coach, was what won me over.

"They were one of the schools to come at me and they never stopped. I just knew early on that it was a place where I'd feel comfortable."

Auburn had the Tiger Prowl & Big Cat Weekend.
A & M has reporters who make a kid feel like Norm in Cheers.
quote:

Texas A&M made a fan out of Bourque early in the process.

"My first trip there was crazy," Bourque said. "A lot of the sports writers around campus, as soon as I walked up, they knew who I was. I was just wearing my Crowley High shirt and hadn't talked to anybody there yet and they knew me.

"Everything you see around town is A&M. When you go to the restaurants, it's all about A&M. They probably have a burger called an A&M burger somewhere. They love A&M over there."

Sammie Saturday?

Woody Weekend?

Norm Night?
