Kind of makes you question that solely being about academics story they were selling.

I have no clue
I thought they said he was taking a year off from school though.

Yeah his parents sound full of shite at this point.

I think they were saying he would take a year off basketball but he was going to have to do that anyway since he was transferring.

Was TJ just doing a "CYA" to give a release?
The stories do not match, and it was evident when NOLA reported the scenario......First he withdrew; then he and TJ told their story; then TJ gave him a release (interesting huh?); then the dad talked about how he would take a year off; then he comes right back and talks about Tulane (wink wink); then he pops up at Dayton!
Sounds like Derenbecker wanted to get away from TJ....nothing more and nothing less

Who knows? This has been a weird situation for LSU/Derenbecker

If you ask me, the kid should have just sucked it up. He would have certainly helped us offensively but the guy was the worst perimeter defender LSU's had in years.

Hope he gets his shite together...and yes, there is more to this story that what has been reported.

He made the choice based on their website? Smart family...

His dad was talking all that BS about wanting to see the school's teacher to student ratio and then he ends using the website as his only criteria.

He made the right decision to leave the state.

Yeah his dad just sounds like a total dumbass at this point.

He just didn't want the truth to come out...because it would make his son look real bad.

He looks pretty bad with his dad insinuating he was drunk off his arse all year. If he just out right transfers I don't see Trent putting them on blast on the way out.

Oh I guess I missed this...but this is the truth. Guess he did a bad job of covering this up.

So in response to his son's inability to be away from home in an environment requiring personal responsibility and maturity, he allows his son to go to school in Dayton, Ohio?

All I know is the kid has problems and maybe he can get his stuff together by getting away.

From one extreme to the other.
