I don't buy the depth chart being the reason if we miss on Devall(especially if he chooses Bama;If TAM,don't know,don't care) but what he says holds water. We have 7 Lbs who are soph or Freshman on the team. DE is a little different story.Only 5 soph or freshman but some extremely talented ones

Johns Jr
Barrow Jr
Muncie Jr
Welter So
Randle Fr
DE
Montgomery Jr
Mingo Jr
Maclin So if he hasn't played as I've heard
Allen So
Rasco So
Add in
Davis OLB/DE. I like him as a de personally
Feist OLB though I've seen some say MLB
Granier MLB
Louis LB. To me he could play either
Hunter. DE
Jones. OLB
Perkins. LB or Rb but I see no way he plays Rb
Then Devall and possibly Phillips
Some kids look only at the number of guys on the roster.Obviously with those comments he lacks a little trust in the staff. It's their job to break down the guys at his position and explain to him where his playing time will come from. I have no doubt that Devall has more talent than a few of the guys on the roster at LB but sometimes #s outweigh talent to a kid. We'll see if the staff can convince him and if he's open to listening.
I have heard things are looking up with Devall as others have also heard from reading the thread but I still have doubts.

For a guy who claims to be a LSU fan, he sure doesn't watch much football then.
What is there to trust? Miles has been burning redshirts like crazy the past few years. If you're good, you'll play your freshman year. That simple. Don't see what the issue is with trust. The evidence is on the film.

I agree duece and I may be completely wrong about the trust thing but that's the way his comments come off to me. He says the coaches tell him he'll play early and then says repaetedly that he doesn't know. All while pining about the depth chart and listing some current players. Also from the way he's talking in that interview it seems that the thought that he is now being recruited as a DE seems to be true. Definitely don't buy depth being the issue at DE. Sure Montgomery and Mingo are just sophs but Rasco jumped Aghayere and Jordan Allen this year so he could definitely crack the lineup.

A few things:
He cites Montgomery and Mingo, but there's a decent chance they both leave after next season. And besides, LSU likes to have a two-deep rotation to keep guys fresh.
Bama has been recruiting great under Saban. They'll have numbers and competition at LB, too. And both LSU and Bama will continue to recruit well, so there's going to be still more competition that's not yet on the roster. If he wants to play big-time football, he's not going to escape competition.

Thunderbird, I hope you're right about Mingo. Would love to have him in 2013, too. I'm not saying I think he definitely will leave after 2012, just that I consider it a possibility if he puts up big sack numbers. He could play OLB in a 3-4 at the next level, although I think he still needs another offseason to add a little more bulk.

The kid is not coming to LSU. It's been that way for awhile. Most people know that.
