re: Denzel Devall recruiting update

According to our insiders all 3 would be takes at this point.I want Devall for numerous reasons,mainly because I think he will allow Davis to play DE even though Devall is a MLB.It would allow Feist and Louis to play outside.Problem is that I don't think we get Devall though this info does ring with what has been going around for a while.I hope I'm horribly wrong and we get him.

Insiders from Rivals, 247, Scout, and Espn think Landon Collins and David Perkins are both LSUs to lose. That makes 22, and with the new rule of max 25, that leaves 3 spots for:

Liggins
Ward
Phillips
Devall
And others they aren't so sure about.

is there still no word on D. williams?

I agree about Collins and Perkins...and you can add Hill too. That leaves two spots unless Hill counts towards the 2011 class. I think we may get Alford, but with the MLB thing I don't see why we'd take the chance at this point.

I would personally hold off on a QB. If we win it all this year we should have a good chance at one or two top QB's. I'd rather get the juco WR Patterson, than Liggins at this point.

Egg--- Think it would violate recruiting rules? His dad will bid on the job. I'll see him Tuesday to get his written estimate. What say you?

I understand Liggins' talents on the field but just think we can get better players in the class.I'd be fine with taking him but don't think he's a necessary part of this class.
I highly doubt we would play Liggins next year with Randall on the team.He would be the running threat at QB that Les likes.Absolutely no reason to play Liggins as a freshman and have our entire backup qb group slated to leave in the same year.All 4 if including Jared Foster would be freshman with their clocks started.If you thought the Lee/Jefferson slotting was terrible imagine losing 4 qbs at the same time.It's not easy to recruit qbs at LSU for some reason anyway.It's going to be extra hard with the depth in numbers we'd have.
Also Liggins offers by other SEC teams are mostly not as a qb.Bama for example wants him as a de/te.The only other school in the SEC recruiting him primarily at QB is Ole Miss and they just may be the favorite for him if he wants to play qb.

My opinion has nothing to do with not being high on Liggins. I think he's a good player. However, Mett is the starter next year and will do well. We have Randall to run in that spot if we need to. I just think with only a few spots left there are other guys I'd rather have. If we continue the dream season and win out, we will have a chance at some big time QB's next year. I understand Liggins would be hard to tackle. I'd just rather look elsewhere.
