And he's a better receiver currently. Thomas is ranked on upside so I get that argument but not all kids reach their upside which is kind of where recruiting rankings go awry. Most are based on upside and theres an element of risk to that method.
Like you said though, I'll take both. Just thought the opinion of losing Smith for the possibility of getting Thomas was the wrong one. Thomas has had chances to commit and hasn't. Tells me he may be more on the fence than some believe. We felt the same when losing 2 top 100 wrs last year when in hindsight Burton looks like quite a loss based on early returns. Adams was a good pickup to replace Jarrett however. That kid is off the rails.

I always thought Burton was better than Rakim. Rakim was ranked higher by most though.
I use upside for Smith because like Jefferson he is stil developing physically, but he has all the tools to work with.
Unlike Rakim, I think Thomas Jr. is a can’t miss WR too. He’s a beast but he’s not a legit 6-4.
As masive as A. Gilbert looks out there on the field he is 6-4 and some change barefoot. Terrace Marshall is more in the 6-2.5 to 6-3 range too. True 6-4 WR’s are pretty rare. I stil remember T. Toliver listed at 6-5 at LSU and then he goes to combine and measures 6-3.5 I believe. I was shocked. I guess he was so thin it made him look taller.
