But have thought it was just a small pull. Stinks for him, but luckily he got some love before his senior season.

Just saw that...

LSU target, Plaquemine defensive end Davon Godchaux suffers torn ACL, LCL, will miss remainder of the season

Plaquemine defensive end and LSU target Davon Godchaux has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn lateral collateral ligament and will miss the remainder of the season.

Godchaux said that he injured the knee in the first game of the season and will undergo surgery to repair the knee on Friday.

1 of my favorite 2014 recruits.

We will still honor our offer to him. Les doesnt pull schollys because of an injury. Saban pulled Kwon Alexanders scholly after he tore his ACL, and it looks like it was a mistake.

Les is a stand up guy and will honor his agreement.

Hope surgery and rehab goes well and he comes back better and stronger for us

I hope everything ends up for the best, but does he get to commit Dec 28th or whatever as planned or does this injury change the playing field sort of speak? I know, everybody says he's an LSU lock and I'm not saying different, but does him choosing not to commit hurt him in this situation? Anyone?

What's there to honor? There is no commitment.

Talked to a former Plaquemine coach and he said that due to some of the questionable kids that grew up with Godchaux that this outstanding athlete is looking to sign with Alabama. It is nothing to do with LSU but more for his sake to get away from that type of negative environment....at least the kid is honest

Is that routine? Not sure if I would honor an offer. He's had his chance but wanted to shop around. But maybe he's worth the chance.

So Alabama is taking

Hootie
LF
Gerald
Tony
Davon

On top of

Marlon Humphrys
Ronnie Clark
Matt Elam
Davion Hall
Tyler Luata
Damian Mama
Raekwon McMillian

So Alabama is taking 11 more recruits on top of the 20 already committed. Wow. I wouldn't be surprised if Bama flips the rest of our commitments too.

Godchaux is a stud. You honor his offer. Hes rated very good, and I still think hes underrated. IMO, hes a top 50 guy in the nation. He comes with the size to play immediately.

Hes had his chance?? What does that even mean?? Its not like hes committed anywhere, and its not like NSD has already past. You dont have a timetable to commit anywhere, except for on NSD, and you still can wait a month or 2 after NSD to send in your LOI.

. So I guess that every player that we have offered and didnt commit has "had their chance"? Guess we should forget about all them

Why would you forget about them? They are still desirable. But a guy with this type of injury maybe not so much. That's a chance he took, and they all take, by waiting. Is that too harsh?

So just because Godchaux got hurt, he isnt "desirable" anymore??

There are LOADS of major high school players who tear their ACLs during the year, and go on to play major college football and then go pro. Just because Godchaux tore his ACL, doesnt mean hes automatically not a great football player or not a take. I mean a lot of people return after an ACL and are just as good as before. Like I said, we took Kwon after he tore his ACL 2 times in high school. Kid looks to be a stud. And Godchaux is a take. Regardless of his injury. He will be out 8 months. Which means, he will be ready by summer workouts.

And I would be far more concerned about this injury if it was for an offensive skill position like a RB or WR. Not so much for a DL. And, the ACL injury isnt as bad as it was just a few years ago. They are making amazing strides with this surgery.

So if a guy has on offer, and commits, then tears an ACL, is he more "desirable" just because he committed early??

It really doesnt matter when a player commits to a school, as long as he commits. And, thats even more so for a major recruit like Godchaux is. The bigger recruits with more offers to major schools tend to take longer to decide. Godchaux falls into that category.

Think of it like this. If Godchaux committed early on, then got hurt, would you still take him?? Yes. You would. Doesnt matter when you commit.
