Welp…that sucks….like I said in one of the other threads, our recruiting started red hot, now it seems to be significantly slowing down, and sounds like we aren’t getting guys we were really hoping and banking on getting.

Speaking of crystal balls, Shea has logged two picks for LSU the last two days. Not sure who they are though.

Meh you can find another boobie in Louisiana

Louisiana has obviously been a massive goldmine of WRs over the past couple decades, but I'm not sure we can afford to just keep handwaving the position.

Maybe we can and will find another elite receiver in Louisiana soon, but people say that every year and it sure hasn't been the case. Here's what our WR recruiting has looked like under the current staff:

2025: Taron Francis, Phillip Wright

2024: Kylan Billiot, Jelani Watkins

2023: (Jalen Brown), (Shelton Sampson), Kyle Parker

2022: (Landon Ibieta)

So we've netted 5 WR over the past 4 classes - 3 4*s and 2 3*s over a *four year stretch*. If that wasn't bad enough, those five remaining players have combined to produce a total of 3 career catches. Maybe Francis or Wright will be studs, none of the other three have done anything at all, and none of them project to see the field much this season, either. Long-term, that'd be a problem even before you consider that we only managed to bring in a class of 2 total WRs - one 4*, one 3* - in the class behind them.

The fact is that we BADLY need a loaded WR class in 2026, and it would hurt badly to lose out on feaster - especially considering that tristan keys seems to be considered a major flip candidate.

Boobie is different.

Get him, lose Keys (just the most likely outcome imo) and call it a day.

Also, Francis is going to be a star here. Hope he gets a shot this year because physically he was different than other high schoolers.

No.

The fact is, we need wide receivers in 2026.

Transfers will be more valuable than high school recruits.

Jeremiah smith and Ryan Williams would like a word.

The two best WR prospects in a decade? Yeah that doesn't really change the fact that transfers are usually more valuable than freshman.

And you don’t know what any future recruits are going to be like out of high school. They could be immediate start and impact guys. You don’t know.

Specifically for our 2026 team, the right transfer will be better than any freshman.

Name the last wide receiver that came in and was a top 2 target as a freshman.

Malik, BTJ, and chase were all immediate impact guys as freshman.

3 of them combined for a little over 1000 yards and 9 touchdowns in their freshman seasons.

Chase was the 3rd option on a weak passing offense. Nabors and BTJ were 2nd string, basically.

We're going to need 2 more transfer WR in 2026 no matter who we sign.

Nabers was 2nd on the team in receptions his freshman year. Not to mention he was heavily involved in special teams as well.

You were minimizing his impact calling him “2nd string” lol
You told me to name you some guys that made an impact their freshman year, I named 3. Now you hit me with “And?” lol foh
