My son plays with Cole Kelly at Teurlings. I've attended every game for 2 years now. Here's my quick take....Of course he can make all the throws....even the deep passes. Has incredible velocity on his throws. He's very smart and seems to be becoming a leader on the field. He has command of a very complicated scheme that Coach Sonny runs. He's not quick when he scrambles but he seems to fall forward with his 6'7" body every time. My only concern is that he is in the shotgun 98% of the time even though he is labeled a Pro style QB. I have no clue if he can make those same throws and read defenses with a 3, 5, or 7 step drop. Isn't that the problem with BH? CLM and staff forcing him to go under center when he didn't in high school? Just my take....

Can't can't teach size like that. If LSU offered that Liggins kid form Mississippi at QB I don't see why they wouldn't offer Cole.

Plus he's from Lafayette!

They needed to offer him by the end of the summer if they cant get one of the other few they are looking at nationally. Cole ks a beast and will be an NFL qb.

If he could run the plays consistently and take snaps under center, he would have started every game.

Ahh, he needs to be as consistent as AJ? Got it!

Rettig had trouble adjusting to playing under center, which is fairly common these days. Taking 3/5 steps drops isn't easy.

Not sure of your point, I clearly said there is a reason true passers move on. I agree, it takes DEVELOPING by coaches to teach that adjustment.

But just to be clear after all of your dribble, the reason AJ starts and also the reason retig wasn't higher on the depth chart is because AJ is better taking 3 or 5 step drops?

And this was decided while Mett was here?

Cole moves around the pocket very well. A big problem this year is he had an undersized weak OL and took a good many shots. Back foot issues develop here. In the Notre Dame game he was stepping into them until he was hit for the 5th time, then started throwing off his back. (Which was still mostly on the money) He has good presence and reminds me of Jamarcus running, he moves faster than it looks. Think it will be a mistake to pass on him, but we will see.
