'hands off' and 'in the way' are two different things.
Nick saban isnt a hands off coach. Not in any way. Neither is Meyer,Harbaugh, nor Chip kelly. Chip Kelly runs his offensive practices. So does Harbaugh and meyer. This notion that great coaches are hands off or dont get in the way is absolute bullshite and the people that say it are showing the level of their cfb knowledge.
The best coaches in cfb are absolutely hands on on one side of the ball.
Saban, harbaugh, meyer, kelly, dabo, herman, jimbo and just about any coach that's considered tier 1 are hands on one side of the ball. Thats a fact.

Damn people. Settle down. The guy just got the job. He has kept a highly ranked class together with only 2 de-commits in over two months after Miles' firing. If Bama does the same next year, then yeah, it's time to worry. Right now, O and the staff are holding their own considering the situation and uncertainty up to now.

Because of their style or whatever reason, to mainly lack of mangerial or leadership skills, many people get in the way when they are hands on. That was Les Miles as pressure built, gradually, but built nonethless.
The more pressure he felt, real or imagined, the tighter he controlled the things other people should have been running on his behalf. It was a downward spiral that the idea of being hands on to try and fix the problem(s) was the problem because he got in the way of people doing their jobs, again- on his behalf.

The 2008 season forever ruined Miles. He went to a limit turnovers at all cost philosophy. Miles is the poster board for being TOO hands on. My point was to the posters that say a great coach just gets out of the way of his coordinators and thats just not true.
We are talking about two ends of the same spectrum. You dont want a HC like miles that is too involved but you definitely dont want a coach that does nothing on either side of the ball.
