I believe Russell Shepard, from Houston Cypress Ridge, is a special talent. To me, he's a dynamic athlete and a unique player with the ball in his hands. I first saw film of Shepard about this time last year and thought he would have a chance to be the most electrifying prospect in this class. With all due respect to playmakers such as Andre Debose, I think Shepard is the most electrifying recruit in the country. As a runner, Shepard has Michael Vick ability, with blazing speed, super quickness and an incredible first step. He can accelerate to full speed in a blink of an eye and is so dangerous in space. Shepard can dance his way out of trouble in the pocket and make a play. Shepard is the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country and he's headed to LSU.

Still, he has a lot to work to do. Russell needs to strengthen his arm and work on his reads, decision-making and overall fundamentals of the position. It's going to take time and he will be a work in progress in Baton Rouge as a quarterback.

I truly believe he has the most upside as a receiver. He could make an immediate impact as that position, even at LSU.
and nobody thinks that this is effecting randles and debose desicion??? just currious. Good to hear nonetheless.
and before you guys hammer me. This has nothing to do with randle or debose. Just though you guys would want to hear what the evaluaters are saying

The coaches like him at QB...I'll take their word.

No, especially not Randle. Even if Shepard were to play the WR position full-time, he would be a slot receiver and Randle is a wideout.
As for Debose, he's a much more polished receiver at this point than Shepard and yet they have the same basic skill set in the open field. I think Debose's decision has much more to do with location and a track record of getting the ball to playmakers (ETA: at Florida) 100X more than any inkling of using Shepard at WR.

Yep, I had read that a little earlier today actually. I would say it's pretty accurate. I think anyone who doubted the kid's abilities in the open field were probably silenced with his 15-yard TD run in the UA game. It basically looked like 21 guys were in one speed and Shep was in a different speed. The attribute that separates him from a lot of other speedsters is his acceleration. By about his 3rd or 4th step, he's at full speed. He may not have the elite top-end speed of a guy like Chris Johnson, but he's probably faster in the first 20 yards.

i am slowly getting off the "shep at QB" bandwagon and getting on the "be percy harvin, LSU style" one. he would be an immeadiate impact guy, and JJ can play QB. get shep 10-15 touches: some in the "wild tiger," couple carries, couple pass receptions.... BOOM! sec champs in NO TIME!
