lynx, notice that you didn't see me posting until late in the day yesterday. My schedule is a little fuked up right now.

Florida went up and down the field against us in Tiger Stadium two years ago for the first three quarters
Perhaps but UF ended the season averaging 42 points and 457 yards per game.
We held them to 314 yards and 24 points.
The only team to hold them to fewer yards and points was Auburn.

I remember multiple lengthy drives in that game that took a ton of time off the clock. Pelini played a prevent D, and they just nibbled us down the field and scored.
Plus, more than that, our offense helped our defense bc Hester's running kept their offense off the field.

So, who did, in your opinion, have a clue? That was a pretty good offense we faced.

Whatcha mean? I think Muschamp at Auburn defended them much better than LSU did that year, especially considering they beat them in the Swamp.

You said Pelini had no clue what to do against them. I don't think the plan was that bad.

One, you don't know that for a fact. that's just your opinion.
Two, your offense was the most sorry excuse for an SEC offense I've seen in may years. Dead last in the SEC in time of possession, below offensive juggernauts like Vandy, Miss. St., and Auburn.
Three, any knowledgeable Vol fan knows UT's defense can be worn down because of the lack of depth on the DL.
Get off Chavis's arse. There's not a DC in CFB that could have done a better job than what he did, considering what he had to work with.

Yes I think the depth will be used adequately.
Lots have mentioned his attacking scheme but to do so you have to approach the game like a good OC. Look for and exploit mismatches... Which is where depth becomes evident... For example, if a team has a good slot receiver and runs a lot of 3 and 4 wide sets, I think having Coleman and McCray would be better than Shepard and Cutrera. That's a basic sub. But a lot of that will be happening.

"Coleman is kind of a prototypical Chavis styled LB. Find the ball, run and destroy"
I've seen Coleman bring the hurt in some takles. I think we will be fine with the four we got and maybe see baker if needed.

You guys keep wanting to talk about LAST year..what about 2007 the YEAR we made the SEC championship game and Florida hung 59 on us and drove 99 yards on the last drive?..or Alabama beating us 41-17.. California put up 45 in the opener ....In wasn't ALWAYS the offense guys..Just wait and see..

What'd you think of that 2001 defense?
Posted on 8/4/09 at 10:24 pm to StevieRayVol
For the 10000000000th time. Your secondary consisted of 3 true freshman and 1 Juco among its top 5 DBs. That will NEVER happen at LSU!

Congrats on being the first non-a-hole Tennessee poster here.
Thanks for your imput, sorry about all the rantards that are flaming on you.
From what I understand about Chavis, he has two packages. His base formation is a 4-3 with a Will LB who can drop back and play safety and a Safety who can cover and play the nickle (or play corner allowing a corner to play the nickle). For his "Mustang" package he puts in a dime back.
My question is, does he pull a DL (3-2-6) or and LB (4-1-6)?
