Porter is probably our best recruiter on our staff (although McCarthy has been giving him a run for his money lately and you could argue he has our top four recruits committed to him at the moment).

HOWEVER, can he close on the bigtime RB? McKnight, nope. Richardson, nope. Lache, not loving our chances at the moment. What's going on here? Is it our reluctance to truely make someone "the horse" (although I think this concept is way overblown as Scott and Hester have both been go-to guys)? Is he not willing to "do whatever it takes" that some other coaches will?

What do yal think? We can't afford to miss out on McKnight, Richardson, and Lache in consecutive years...

he was also involved in passing on C. Michaels, and the Pratt and Lacy mess. lets also remember that he forgot to recruit a fullback. his RB recruiting has been suspect, his overall recruiting has been great. WE WILL STILL GET LS.

Are you seriously calling out Larry Porter for "missing out" on RB's? You have no idea what you are talking about. He's 1 of the best recruiters in the nation. In regards to the RB situation, he has created a stable of 4-star RB's year in and year out.

i wouldn't say he forgot to recruit a fullback, but maybe recruited the wrong fullbacks. steve korte couldn't cut it, who was that kid from alabama that was a potential te, h back, or fb that eventually transferred?, and then you have kellen theriot who has basically spent his lsu time at the trainer's table.

eta: of course we also have dominique allen that looked more like an off guard when he got on campus and hasn't really been impressive in learning his assignments.

It was not CLP's fault that we lost out on TR and JM

one of our problems is that the offense is too predictable. that is in part due to one dimensional running backs. ie. scott can only go up the middle, holiday only around the end. none catch any passes. we need a versatile rb that the defense needs to defend the whole field for. run or pass.

Did he recruit Ford? I seem to remember him being a big-time RB.

don't you find this name a little redundant? I mean, you could have just used the name Jed and everyone would assume you were just some hick from Tennessee.
