That's hardly trustworthy journalism right there. The fact that they reported it as rumor without naming source is ridiculous.
I tend to believe that the kid and/or his family got paid, but that's my opinion about nearly every major recruit in basketball. In that sport where one player can earn a school millions of dollars, there's too much at stake to leave the decision to the whims of a teenager. You hedge your bets by buying a players services...DISCRETELY!
