Yeah, and JJ was one of the top performers at the Manning passing academy. Did you watch the All-Star game where he was playing with and against D-1 talent? Dude looked like he didn't know what he was doing. Not saying that he's not going to be a good dual threat guy. Not saying that he won't be the BEST dual threat QB in the country in a few years if he sticks to FSU. But those guys don't make it in the pros or the SEC for a reason. The exceptions are Cam and Tebow. There is nothing this kid has shown me or anyone else to make me believe he is a Cam or a Tebow, thus it makes sense that Kiel will be a better QB on an SEC team and will be a better pro prospect.
Quit lying and making things up to support your asinine prejudice against "dual thraet" QBs. LSU should pass on a 5 star QB rated number 1 in the nation by most? Simply amazing concept.
FSU recruit Winston MVP of all-star game
Quarterback Jameis Winston was 8 of 9 for 178 yards and two touchdowns to lead Team Blur to a 49-16 victory over Team Highlight in the Under Armour All-America Game Thursday night.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Five-star quarterback recruit Jameis Winston was one of the main attractions going into Saturday's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, and the two-sport star showed why in Alabama's 31-12 victory.
Winston completed 17 of 24 pass attempts for 121 yards and rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown.

This is a perfect example of the "I don't want a "dual threat" QB at LSU crowd or the "he's not Tebow or Newton" crowd. It is insanity and not based on facts, but on their prejudice against "dual threat" QBs. The notion that LSU should not recruit "dual threat" QBs is simply crazy. The idea that only Cam Newton/Tim Tebow "dual threats" can be successful ignores the many other successful "dual threats".
Even with the Newton/Tebow standard Winston is a keeper. All reports I have read on him is that he is a superior QB prospect. A Perrilloux with his head on right. He would be a great get for LSU. To claim otherwise is without merit. By the way our own Perrilloux was a successful "dual threat" SEC QB. Without him we do not win the SEC or BCS titles in 2007.

Winston reaffirmed his commitment to Florida State this morning, I believe. Heard something on the radio this morning. Sagan has an in home this weekend

If Winston does flip to LSU, he'd get immediate PT - situational. Up to 50% his second year. Miles loves the dual threat.

1) Winston is a GREAT player, and every major school could use a player like that
2) Manuel had more upside at FSU, and hasn't been developed, nor does it look like he won't be the starter there
3) Bama may not really want him, but being the top instate prospect, they have to show that they gave it their "best shot", and notice they have shown more interest only when LSU seemed to be creeping back in the the picture. Good chance he is playing Bama, which Saban does not like. They could sign him, but he'll never see the field there. McCarron will go to his senior year.
3) His best chance to start is if Mett goes pro early or gets hurt, we really don't have anyone else.
4) CLM lets him play baseball, as long as he's not starting
Winston is a much better fit for LSU than Liggins at this point. Only about a 25% chance that will happen, we let's not throw he or GK under the bus. They both improve us drastically.

quote:Hard to tell, especially this season. Played hurt(separated shoulder)since the OU, and has practically had to run for his life because of our OL. And please tell me who the starter will be.

it was poorly worded....Manuel will be the starter.
Winston WANTS Bama, but he sees that McCarron is not going anywhere. He's equally good off at either LSU or FSU, but LSU Baseball could be a factor.
I still think he's going to sign with FSU. Although LSU's O-line shapes up to be pretty good next year. 18 year olds...you never know.

Winston wants to be coached by Jimbo and wants to play baseball(FSU) he met with the baseball program on Sunday. They've just as important in his recruitment.

Winston is all about him the press he is getting. He was quoted after his visit to FSU and saying he even more committed to FSU,
"My commitment to Florida State got stronger this weekend," Winston said Sunday.
But than goes on to say that he will not change his verbal but hopes by signing day he will have his mind made up between FSU, LSU, and UA.
"I can't see my mind changing," Winston said. "But I still got to think about everything. I've got some good schools to decide on and hope by signing day I will have the right decision for me and my family."
But this is the real reason for going to FSU and it has nothing to do with playing for Fisher.
"But if my decision was just about playing time and the best chance to play right away I'd be committed to LSU," Winston said, who said Florida State's biggest positive is the ability to play baseball and football at the next level.

Chad Jones, Jared Mitchell, Spencer Ware
All played/play LSU baseball, and were stud football players. LSU leads nation in baseball attendance regularly. Brand new stellar stadium. Way more national titles than FSU. So how is FSU baseball better? And then combined with the football comment?
Sounds like a conflicted young man. And has Mainieri had a talk with Miles about this??? Sounds like a win/win...

For those that do not know the SEC has a rule in place that will not allow a player to play(sign) a MLB contract, play during the summer, and play CFB in the fall. The ACC will allow it. If he goes to LSU or UA and plays football next fall he will have to wait until after his junior year to enter the draft again for MLB.
At FSU he can enter the draft, sign a contract to play MLB during the summer, get paid to play, and play football in the fall. If a player does not go in the draft after his senior year in HS they have to wait 3 years per the MLB rules. JW has no intention to play baseball at FSU. He only wants to play football and MLB.
No NCAA school is allowed to have a player who signs a professional contract in one sport play in that same sport. In this case baseball.
The only reason JW is looking now at LSU or UA is because his stock draft in baseball has fallen. That is huge now because before there was no cap on signing bonuses, meaning a 9th rounder could still receive a million dollar+ bonus, but now with the new collective bargining agreement there is a cap. He originally stated if the money was there he would sign a MLB contract but it may not be now.

ACC allows players to sign minor league contracts while playing football. The SEC doesn't

That's good info Warrior. Undoubtedly, a big advantage for the ACC, both in football and baseball. The SEC needs to address that. Being a local kid, I'm sure Bama boosters are not happy about him picking FSU possibly because that rule is in place.
I can't imagine anyway that Saban wants his QB to have other sports on his mind. If Bama really went after him real hard at this point, he'd be there, although he's behind McCarron until he leaves. And the Tide has to do some housecleaning to make room at the this point.
This could be an interesting decision. If he decides to forego pro ball in the summer, then LSU has a better than average shot of getting him, due to the solid baseball program there as well.
My guess, FSU, and eventually a transfer if not happy.
