maybe Storm is getting thrown under the bus to please another top recruit like Benton was last year?

why is it such a given that we won't take 3 rb's? we lose 3 rb's to graduation next year and only took one last year(ford). plus i'm thinking we only take 2 next year (hill and hilliard).

Drayton Calhoun also..and I think the coaches know if both Storm and Blue commit, Lache won't come..of course that could be false but it seems that way..

With a list like he's got, and being from an LSU hotbed like Hahnville High, you'd have to think he'd have committed if he had a full-bore, committable offer at this point.
Isn't it more likely that he's got an offer with at least one string attached? Something on the order of:
- You can commit if we lose Storm
- You can commit if we get Storm but lose Lache
- You can commit if we call you and tell you we're taking 3 RB's for some reason.
Or it may be just to light a fire under Storm's rear end, if one needs lighting. Either way, it's doubtful this offer has anything to do with whether they take Storm, Lache, or anyone else.

Exactly, 5 running backs in two years is a lot, especially if Storm, Lache, and Hilliard are three of them. That's a hell of a logjam for the other two guys.
If a spot goes to a guy like Blue it sounds like a wasted scholarship.

forgot calhoun.. still i can't imagine the number 1 running back in the conutry being afraid of some competition especially since he was supposedly recruiting 2 of the top running backs to au..

No, he got offered. You don't offer a guy "in case you lose someone". That wouldn't be an offer.

When did this start?

Correct me if I'm wrong, then. Isn't it fairly common practice to issue different offers to different kids, with not all of them being equal?
For example, Mike Farrell (I think) was on Rivals Radio this am talking about UGA taking cornerbacks. According to Farrell, there's 4 CB's they like, so they have 4 offers out there with a significant condition - numbers are tight, so the first 2 guys to commit get a UGA scholly. Last 2 guys are on the outside looking in. Put another way, each guy has an offer which is conditioned upon 2 other CB's not committing ahead of them.
I see no reason LSU couldn't pull Blue into that trailer on the Ponderosa where everyone gets their offers, and tells him he's got a spot if Storm doesn't commit, or if they decide later they want 3 RB's, etc.

I have a hard time believing that a lot of these offers are truly unconditional.

Bc Blue just got offered today. That means they would accept his commitment today.
Johnson was offered 6 months ago, that doesn't mean they'd accept his commitment today.

I don't understand how LSU people think we should take 2 backs this year after taking 2 last year and 2 again next year.
Maybe the coaches just want one and believe that Blue will commit and if they get Lache then maybe Blue will be more likely to decommit.
we don't need 6 backs.

Is Blue being offered as a RB? or an athlete that can play somewhere else. Plus whats going on with his grades? Wasn't there some classification confusion with him earlier?
Posted on 7/21/09 at 7:38 pm to Larry Hollins
This is getting interesting,
I hope that a Blue offer doesn't means no more storm. I know all of the early commits makes things tricky, but a lot of negative recruiting will follow if that's what it is. This combined with Storm's dad interview yesterday is really weird.

Based on what Storm's dad said yesterday, LSU is still very interested in him. Unless he is just really bad at catching signals or filtering out coachspeak.

Definitely a head scratcher. He's a solid prospect though.. no doubts there.
Wonder if the staff was just blown away by him at camp?

Is it a definite that he will play RB now? I know there was a chance he may play DB during his recruitment.

With numbers being so tight now, I think they must have been really impressed.
