On3 Consensus Riser: LSU 4-star DL commit Darron Reed

quote:

After rankings updates across the industry, Columbus (Ga.) Carver defensive lineman and LSU commit Darron Reed moved from No. 219 to No. 178 in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.

His 41-spot jump was among the largest of any prospect in the 2023 cycle, with two other industry services updating their rankings on Wednesday morning.

According to the Industry Comparison, On3 is the highest on Reed, tabbing him as the No. 39 overall prospect — within striking distance of five-star status — in the 2023 On300 rankings.

ON3 must be onto something. This dude might be severely under-ranked. Good sign that we were in a battle with Ohio State (which is a recent DL factory) and took him away from his home state Bulldogs. If I’m not mistaken, it’s similar with Mickens, top 50 on ON3, but lower on the other recruiting databases.

Cain is putting in work, LSU’s D Line is going to be NASTY. Appreciate the post Crown.

Reed is underrated by all but On3.

Cain is that dude. His 2024 class should be even better.

Rivals is just lazy. Even the 251st guy is classified as unranked according to their system.

When Jamar Cain decided to come to Baton Rouge with Brian Kelly instead of following Lincoln Riley to USC or remaining at Oklahoma, that really fueled my opinion of the Kelly hire.

I wasn’t versed on Cain, but looking at interviews and what not after the hire, impressed me. Him and House will be hard to keep for the long haul, they’ll get some serious looks in the coming years, deservingly so.

Glad he also chose LSU over USC, Lincoln’s philosophy wasn’t going to boost his profile compared to LSU’s history and CBK/House. I’ll give it to the Trojans, they’re amongst the leaders in the nation with TO’s but let’s be real, it’s an offensive driven squad. Cain has the big nasties down in SEC country and hell, he’s proven he can grab talent in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. This really reminds me of Georgia/Kirby early on. I think LSU can have that 21’ Georgia level defense in the next few years with all this talent and proper molding.
