Agreed, LSU, as any other major college program, is not innocent in the realm of paying players to pay. However, to counter your “foolish” comment, you should hear the feelings of a well known ex LSU coach who has coached with Saban and twice been asked to return to coach with him since. Quoting him, “when Saban was in E. Lansing, he cheated. And yes, when he was in Baton Rouge, he cheated. But now at Bama, he’s got cheating down to a ‘true art form’. And LSU is not in the same league.

Saban’s assistants learned well; Smart, Fisher, Cristobal, Napier, Sarkisian et al, (Pruitt just got reckless) are successful recruiters because they adopted Saban’s organized payment plans, which can only sprout with financial backing from the affiliated or non-affiliated support. In this new NIL environment, it will be difficult for LSU to compete with them at THEIR high level, and Red Elephant Club organizations.

So, it is not foolish to say that LSU can- and will- get out recruited
