James Thompson

Had a chance to play against him in a little round robin tourney last summer.....it wasn't anything special and I'm way past my high school/college bball days, but this kid can play. He's very explosive around the basket and is very quick and decisive when it comes to his post moves. He was a little finesse sometimes and our team was fairly small compared to his, me being the tallest at 6'6", so he was able to control the game fairly easily with his teammate who was 6'8".

I'm a little biased since I'm a Parkview alum, but I think with some more training from a coach like Don Green and asst coaches like Jermaine Williams, this guy could be a very decent pickup that provides depth coming off the bench early in his career and then become a starter later on.

My thoughts as well. He's a good player that could come off the bench for two years and then possibly start his junior year.

I haven't gotten into 2014 recruiting at all. Been in contact with some of our 2013 guys, but nothing on the younger kids. I try to limit my scope to those who will be playing in the next season haha.

Completely understand With recruiting the way it is and 6th graders getting looks it is pitiful but the truth.
I would absolutely buy 4 more season tickets:
PG: Hickey, Quarterman, Roby
SG: Exum, Morgan
SF: Martin, Black, Lindsey
PF: JOB3, Victor
C: Odo, Keys

I'd guess Victor will be the first to sign. I'd also bet we do not get Exum.

This is tough. I think it'll depend on what we finish with in 2013 and what attrition we have (players or coaches). I don't think we get any guys soon as the top guys will likely wait till near signing day. You have to feel good about Victor, but I don't think he's announcing for another 5-6 months.

I agree completely. I don't think LSU can beat out Indiana for a kid without some special tie to LSU.

Are we in good shape with Leron Black & Jalen Lindsey?

A dream class would be

Craig Victor
Kelly Oubre
Leron Black
Jalen Lindsey
Maybe Dante Exum or Miles Reynolds

Miles Reynolds will be very tough as Illinois, Purdue, and Ohio St have all offered and being that he play with 3 other prospects that have all been offered by the same schools, just dont see it happening.

Leron Black and Jalen Lindsey are extremely close and could wind up going the same place if it is a fit, this is swhy I believe LSU got into the Lindsey sweepstakes so late. I think being where we are at as a program we are in as good a shape as you can get with Black and Lindsey.

Victor was offered in the 7th grade and I believe we are actually in the lead now.

Kelly Oubre is a wildcard, he has been in contact with CJJ for a while since his UNT days but honestly thinks he goes elswhere.

Dante Exum is also hard to predict, I believe we are much higher in his mind than people think, he played on the same Adidas team as J. Martin at the Adidas Nations and both still talk. It really is a 3 way race between LSU, IU, and UNC. If we get him feel really good about Ben Simmons.

Thank You rzd30

I want to ask about a couple of 2015 recruits in the new Orleans area.

How good are Jeremy Treaudo & Richard Durant and is LSU high on there list?

I know a little about each individually and their respective games.
Treaudo- if you look in the video of James Thompson, Treaudo is in it as well, he can flat out play, I have seen him play twice and believe he will, if doen't already have a verbal offer from LSU.

Durant- when I saw him play for Curtis he was their floor general and didn't look to score a whole lot, but was quick and had decent handles but I saw him as a Freshmen!!!!, playing against Riverside and their loaded squad, he is another guy that will be there come 2015.

The problem with both of these guys and no offense is that the way CJJ is nationally recruiting, there may be better players available and will get signed before them. With CJJ, and I mean this no offense there shouldn't be any offers to LA recruits that are not nationally ranked or just standout like Victor, even Cornish and Magee in this class I dont know if we will have room, which makes me happy to say today.

No doubt, I tried convincing one a buddy of mine to buy good season tickets while he still good, even showed him the 2013 class, and the Old Spice Classic. He said if we make it to the dance he might after this year. What some people fail to realize about Coach Jones staff is that he has assembled a recruiting staff that branches out into the main basketball hotspots, which Trent never did.
Coach Jones: Best believe with his LA connections he has it down, and with his tenure in North Texas that is a huge plus.
Robert Kirby: Connections and experience Nationwide, is the real Frank Wilson of the staff.
Charlie Leonard: While he is more game planning and coaching, make no mistake Memphis is where he puts in the work.
David Patrick: AUSTRALIA!!!! Really is a gold mine of talent that has only recently been expanded, programs like St. Marys where he coached, and Gonzaga, even Nicholls best player for like 3 years was from there, now the U.S. realizes if they can just get the kids to campus they will have a shot.
Tom kelsey: While limited does have some experience recruiting in the Jackson metro area.

If you said okay as an LSU recruiter for basketball you get 3 areas besides the local BR/NOLA it would be:
Memphis
Dallas/ Houston
Jackson
That is what he has done and I actually talked with somebody in the know and he told me Coach Patrick has 5 or 6 kids he could bring from Australia every year that could perform on the D-1 level and I believe that.

On a side note, noticed Dwayne Morgan out of Maryland committed to UNLV today, believe we had offered but doesn't appear we were ever in it.

Since Robert Kirby left Georgetown they have lost a lot of top level talented players

Robert Kirby was definately a big blow for Georgetown. Morgan going to UNLV is a shocker to be honest, and your right we were never in it.
