I am back. I already have my first 6 or 7 picks figured out

My best player was #1 pick Miami RB Duke Johnson was amazing 900+ rushing yards yards 13 tds. All American Kick Returner

My second best player was Western Michigan WR Jaime Wilson was top 10 in receving yards for the through October but then got injured or for whatever reason just lost playing time

2 more big contributors were Colorado CB Ken Crawley started every game and Michigan LB James Ross going to be a superstar.

We have discussed scoring systems each year, but in the end there is way too much work involved. It takes long enough just to research and keep track of your own players.

I think something fairly simple could be done using just things like All conference, major awards, and draft position. Its just a matter of who is willing to do it and finding a consistent publication to get the all conference teams from

You are hired! It doesn't pay worth a shite, but at least the benefits suck.

Pasty, the benefits have good and bad news associated with it. The bad news is that they serve shite for lunch. The good news is that there is plenty enough for seconds.

Back to the scoring system, we had a few people come up with ideas. In fact, the poster "slackster" had come up with some crazy arse formula/dick measuring/statistical analysis in year two. I just don't think we ever called him out on it.

Toward the bottom of page 1.

I just took 10 minutes to write this out. What do you think?

quote:

Here is a simple scoring system we can use CollegeFootballNews.com as our source LINK

2 points for 2nd team Freshman All American
4 points for 1st team Freshman All American
4 points for 2nd team All conference
6 points for 1st team All conference
8 points for 3rd team All American
10 points for 2nd team All American
15 points for 1st team All American
15 points for a National Award
20 points for Heisman
16 points for top 10 draft pick
14 for 1st round not top 10
12 for 2nd round
10 for 3rd round
8 for 4th round
6 for 5th round
4 for 6th round
2 for 7th round
20 points for NFL offense or defense Rookie of the year

Problems are:

What do we do with Independents? Its not fair that they can't make an All Conference team. I think CFN has a top 20 independent players list but only in their preseason preview. I guess a special exception could be made to use that preseason list. Top 5 in that list counts as 1st team all conference top 10 counts as 2nd team.

Another problem is some positions(QB) will be much more valued than others(DB or OL) because of the opportunity to win more awards. I personally don't have a problem with it because QB is the most important and it will create more strategy.

I had thrown something together but never shared.

Here's what I had down:

On Roster+1
Not on roster -1
Starter +2 per year starting
All conference +3
Conference award +4
All American +5
National award +6
1st round pick +10
2nd round pick +9.5
3rd round pick +9
4th +8.5
5th +8
6th - later +7

Its really hard to find stats for starts on certain team websites.

As far as stats go, if a player is on a roster and plays, there will be stats for it. Some sites suck balls, but with a little digging it can be found. I made a chart with my full roster on page 3 of this thread, and I found detailed stats on every one of my players. Some were very tedious and aggrivating, but all were found.

Also, are y'all sure y'all want this thing to be scored? Hell, we can barely get everyone to finish the draft much less score their own teams! I think there were two teams from last year that didn't even finish their supp. picks. With scoring systems, having something like Beast and Dan's systems could work. I am not a big fav on giving points to a Heisman winner. That award is a sham and is only given to a QB or a RB from a major college (Te'o even being mentioned this year was fricking laughable). I would rather give points to Positional awards instead. That would seem a little more fair to non-BCS schools and non flair positions.

Or Cat that selected Newton.

The funny thing is, I remember seeing Manziel during that draft. I thought his film looked really good. That was until I saw his picture. I remember saying to myself that he looked like a crack head and I didn't want to take a chance on him.

In addition to the complexion, the main question was the level of competition. As it turned out, he makes all defenses look silly chasing his arse around.

Nope. Better to back out early. It takes 2 months!

Please confirm.

Thanks.
