It's not exactly the easier position to recruit for. It's difficult to project how much a kid is going to grow. The position demands size, but also speed and athleticism to play a hybrid DE/OLB spot. Some kids just outgrow the position and move to DE full time. Some just don't get big enough and move to other LB positions. This is why Alabama goes after several candidates for the position every year.
