There are still lawsuits pending for the 83 flood, when it did destroy thousands of homes

matter of fact they are not pending. The homeowners won the class action suit against the state but the state refuses to pay it. Saying that they don't have the money. The state was found to be at fault because the construction of I-12 was found to be a big factor in the flood.

That was a incredible few days when that flood happened. The day before the bridge over the Tangipohoa river on 16 in Amite washed out. The crazy thing is no one in south tangi knew the dam had busted. It was in the spring and it was all from rain water. One of my brothers friends was living on North Thibodeaux rd and went to the store on Hwy 22 just a mile away that morning, returned home and parked his car on the carport. His place was fairly dry, no flooding yet. he went inside for a short period of time and when he went back out to his car the water was up to the hood. It came up in a matter of like 20 minutes. I remember a my friends dad running his bass boat up and down Brown Rd rescueing ppl. Till this day this is hard to comprehend.

Grew up on N Thib road, I was born in 84. Pictures of our old two story house there looked like water was to the second story.

Man with the initials DS brought a boat to save my great grandmother there, and thats where I was today trying to store things in the attic and at the top of the shed in case it happened again. My grandfather still lives out there, one of the last strawberry farmers on that road.

Anyone know where it drains.

Tangipahoa River then Lake Pontchartrain.

Would I-55 be affected at all by this?

I'd be concerned w/I-12 & US 190 at Robert as well.

Its 700 acres of water.Thats just over a square mile.Would be quite a bit of water heading south.

Heading south into already swollen rivers and lakes.

Supposedly. I can't find a link but my uncle lives less than two miles from there. He does tend to exaggerate sometimes.

Tangipahoa River at I-12 was a good 10-15 below the level of the road yesterday. Was actually one of the least swollen rivers on the stretch of I-12 between BR and Slidell.
