Freds by the river in Port Vincent - route advice needed

Does anyone know if the bridge is still closed? I can't find anything online about it. I work in Hammond and live in St. Amant, I'm trying to figure out if I can get home using the back way (Port Vincent, Frost/Livingston, Holden exits..) This morning I had to go to Baton Rouge and get on at I-12, trying to avoid this for my evening route if possible.
TIA for any help!!

Rode through there from Killian last night. Highest water was on 444 right before Pete's landing, but was passable in a Suburban or full size pickup. It actually dropped slightly between our ride out there at 2 PM and dusk as we returned. If you take the Livingston/Frost exit Hwy 63 South to 444, you should be fine.

I don't see anything on the state of la website about Amite river bridge at Port Vincent being closed.

I don't either, I heard through word of mouth this morning that it was and I didn't want to waste my time on the way to work. That's why I am asking here to see if anyone knows for sure..

That bridge is much higher than the surrounding roads, so that doesn't make sense that it would be closed. Just be careful with the new Port Vincent traffic circle if you haven't been by there recently.

I go through it every day on my way to and from work, it's not so bad now, but once it's finished it is going to be a nightmare.. I envision a bunch of cajuns going round and round

I've always thought that area was a little sketchy-kind of where the AP meets the LP, so yeah, I've had the same vision as they've been working on it.
Safe travels-post the road conditions after you make it through? I'll be heading that way to sweep the dead fish and live snakes out of my camp when the water drops about 3-4 feet.

I am leaving Hammond now to head that way, however, I am hearing of a wreck that is now an additional obstacle for me to get home. Needless to say, I will be on the road for a while.
