So I planted mine with the spring planting here in Lafayette la. The beans are either king and dead at 7” or nothing but seeds at 4”. Any ideas as to what Iam doing wrong?

I've grown yard long beans for a long time and have never had any issue with them in all that time. Fast growers and heavy producers of 20-24 in long beans.
Stupid me decided to try something different this year and got the regular type snap beans in the pole bean variety and so far all I've gotten is lush growth, tons of flowers and hardly any beans.
I wish I could help, but I've never faced the issue you seem to have. Perhaps it's not enough fertilizer or some deficiency in the soil. Maybe take a few samples and send it to the Ag. Department to have it analyzed.
