I did the complete install of a 3 ton unit in a house that previously did not have central air and heat. Had a licensed HVAC guy connect to the electrical panel and charge the freon line. I'm hardly a do it yourself guy but my accomplice was and taught me how. That was 1991 and never had a problem nor did the people who bought the house from me. Definitely taught me a lot.
