Looking for something for the fence line and around the back of the house, shed, etc.

Anyone try a homemade mixture of sorts that works as well as roundup?

You can get a quart of 50% glyphosate concentrate for like $8.99. I can't imagine there is something more cost effective than that. It makes roughly 20 gallons of spray.

ETA: for selective herbicides, depending on your grass I have had really good results with Celsius on my bermuda like Ronk said.

My go to is celsius. What are you trying to do? Clear everything or keep weeds out while maintaining grass. Big difference.

the thing i've learned with roundup and edges/fencelines is that it will kill the grass for months...however 25 different types of weeds will sprout within a month of the newly dead areas

you can roundup to avoid weedeating, but you will have to keep applying every few weeks

I’ve been thinking about this too. Roundup (glyphosate) works only on plants that have sprouted and contacts the foliage. Is there something that can be used as a pre-emergent for all growth? At least for some period of time, and is not toxic/deadly/illegal?

Round up binds so tightly to the soil that it becomes ineffective a couple hours after it touches dirt. You will constantly be spraying. If you want to clear the area use a round up/oust combo. Oust will travel down runners though but you will definitely keep stuff off your fence.
